PROJECT OF THE WEEK

History sits comfortably alongside contemporary design at Leesthorpe, where a historic Mosman residence has been transformed with a sculptural new extension.

Original architectural character is paired with bold material choices, curved forms and richly layered interiors. Stone, timber, dark joinery and carefully selected furnishings give each space its own identity while keeping the home connected as a whole.

The result is a considered blend of heritage and modern living, with details that reward a closer look.

PROJECT OF THE WEEK

As daylight fades, this home takes on a completely different character.

In this project, lighting has been used to pick out the details that make the architecture stand out. A soft grazing light brings texture to the oversized timber entry door, while carefully positioned spotlights draw the eye along the beams, steelwork and timber eaves.

The lighting doesn’t compete with the architecture. It gives the structure another presence after dark.

The five contemporary townhouses are designed around the existing street tree, with timber cladding and layered screens adding warmth, texture and privacy throughout the façade.

Love the simplicity of this project. The combination of warm timber, soft stone and textured brick gives the home a really grounded, timeless feel.
There’s so much to appreciate in the details too, from the curved brickwork at the entry to the beautiful joinery, natural stone and carefully considered lighting throughout.
