The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning that a moderate westerly weather system is moving into the northern regions, increasing the r!sk of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), flash floods, and debris flows in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The system is expected to bring widespread rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy rainfall in mountainous catchments. Vulnerable areas include Swat, Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Hunza, Nagar, Shigar, and Astore.
Authorities have urged residents to stay away from rivers, relocate valuables and livestock, and remain alert, while disaster management teams stay on high alert.
