This Christmas I've decided to donate again to the local tree planting scheme I'm involved with running as an Ethical Reading volunteer, Trees for Reading.

My contribution will be added to donations from other businesses to collectively fund substantial young trees in parts of town where they will have the most positive impact.

If you would like to chip in a few pounds too, you can donate here: https://www.ethicalreading.org.uk/programmes/sustainability/trees-for-reading

All my best wishes for a relaxing break and a happy and healthy New Year.

It's been an eventful year, one way and another, not least being elected as a Green Party councillor in my case! I hope this finds you well and starting to wind down for a well-earned break.

This year I've decided to donate to an amazing local charity, Whitley CDA. Based near where I live in South Reading, they do so much for the local community, and it felt like a natural choice, with times being so tough for so many people at the moment.

Their Surplus Food Project makes high quality food that would otherwise go to waste available to people who need it, no questions asked. Anyone can pop in to the café for free advice as well as affordable food and drink and to enjoy the Whitley Community Museum displays. You can always be sure of a warm welcome.

Wishing you a restorative break and all the best for the New Year.

It's a great feeling to know that my little business contributed to the planting of this weeping beech next to the play area in Prospect Park.

Craft Box Club was the main funder, thanks to their pledge to donate £1 for every subscription purchased to Ethical Reading's Trees for Reading initiative (which I'm also involved in running). Organico Realfoods, The Foraging Bee, TDPphotography and The Castle Tap all contributed too, alongside Kat Creative.

It's the first tree planted through the scheme that has been funded collectively by local businesses. Hopefully the first of many!

I can't imagine how tough it must be going into this time of year without a home to cosy up in. So I'm delighted that Reading now has 40 starter homes made from converted shipping containers, to give homeless people a foothold to build from.

The site happens to be just behind the cattle market, where Reading Farmers' Market is based, so it felt especially appropriate to make a donation to St Mungo's, who are partnering with Reading Council on the scheme, to support their work.

It's been another challenging year for many of us, work-wise and personally. Whatever 2022 has in store, I hope it will be a better year for you, with some fun times and successes.

In the meantime, here's wishing you a relaxing and restorative festive break.

Are you passionate about business sustainability? If so, you might like to join me in a community called Sustaineers.

It's a really friendly, supportive and positive community, which has grown organically to more than 500 people around the world in just over a year. All people who believe that businesses can play a positive role in moving to a more sustainable way of life.

I'm happy to say that 25 trees have been planted in Madagascar in my name though Ecologi to recognise my contribution to growing the community - that's the maximum. But if you would like to join too, let me know and I can share a code with you that will get you in and get trees planted in the name of my local branch co-host.

View Sustaineers' Ecologi profile. So far they've offset 58.91 tonnes of CO2 and planted 940 trees!

It’s great to be collaborating with Natalie from Nature Nurture CIC again, talking about the importance of urban trees for wellbeing. Tomorrow is Earth Day too, so perfect timing.

To mark the milestone of 20 years in business, I've made another donation to Ethical Reading's Trees for Reading initiative. £1 for each year of helping organisations get their message across.

If you would like to join me in helping to bring more trees to built-up parts of Reading, have a look at www.ethicalreading.org.uk/programmes/sustainability/trees-for-reading.

Kat Creative is 20 today!

It was on 1 February 2001 that I set up as a self-employed copywriter, trading under this brand. Since then a lot has changed, but I'm still committed to helping organisations get their message across, especially ones that are passionate about making a positive difference.

I'm proud to have helped a huge range of organisations achieve their aims over the past two decades by enabling them to engage better with their target audiences.

A massive thank you to everyone who has chosen to work with me. Your trust means everything.

As tough year draws to a close, I’ve donated to Ethical Reading’s Trees for Reading initiative on behalf of Kat Creative, to help towards making our town greener, healthier and happier.

A small gesture of hope for better things to come.

We’re offering local organisations the opportunity to help us make Reading a better place by funding the planting and care of trees.

Since July 2017, I've been managing Reading Farmers' Market on behalf of Thames Valley Farmers' Market Co-operative.

Since then I have successfully built the market up, bringing new energy to it along with new traders and customers.

I've put a lot of heart into it over the last two and a half years, so it was really rewarding to hear the news that the market has been named Best Food Market in the Great British Market Awards 2020.
