The Final Hurrah 🍕🍺💐

This Friday 4 September, marks our final summer event at The Flower Field and we’re ending the season in style with the return of Bonnie & Clyde Woodfired Pizza. Gates open at 4pm with food and drinks served until we sell out!

With the sides up, our big top tent is all cosy and we’re looking forward to one last evening under the stars.

This season has been a tale of two halves. The glorious sunshine brought so many of you out to enjoy our street food evenings and wellness events but the same relentless heat made it incredibly difficult for the PYO flowers, which failed to see it through.

So, this Friday, we’d love you to join us to celebrate the highs and lows of British farming and raise a glass to the future of The Flower Field at Mallard Grange Farm. We have big plans for 2027 to evolve and create even more magic ✨

In the meantime here’s some 2026 highlights, a big thank you to everyone who has been down to support us and we still have one special pumpkin night lined up for you this spooky season too, so it’s not quiet over yet!! 🎃

Finally, we’d love to say a huge thank you to all of our vendors, suppliers, pilates and yoga instructors, to Liz and our wonderful team, we truly couldn’t have done it without you amazing people, so thank you for making every event such a huge success!

This is a post we didn’t want to write, but unfortunately our PYO wildflower season has now come to an early end.

Whilst the weather has been glorious, the weeks of intense heat and no rain really haven’t done our poor flowers any favours. Some of our early varieties have completely died back, and whilst the later varieties are still pushing through, they’re not yet in bloom.

After much consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to now close for flower picking with immediate effect. We want to make sure that everyone who visits has the best possible experience and not leave feeling unhappy.

It’s a really difficult decision for a small family business, because of the financial impact but we feel it’s the right thing to do for our lovely customers to ensure you get the experience you deserve!!

BUT… we’re not quite finished yet

Our final three Street Food Nights will go ahead as planned with flower picking optional.

We also have one final Twilight Pilates, Sip & Pick evening on Friday 21 August. By giving the field time to recover some of the later varieties will be ready to pick.

Our Saturday morning Pilates and Sunday morning Yoga will also continue as planned with hot/cold drinks cakes available and flower picking if you fancy it.

We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has visited and we’re already looking forward to coming back bigger and better next season!!

If you’re looking for something a little different to do this week, we’d love to welcome you to The Flower Field, just opposite the main entrance to Fountains Abbey in Ripon.

Whether you’re looking to pick your own wildflowers, enjoy delicious street food, unwind with Pilates or Yoga, or simply spend time outdoors with family and friends, we’ve got something for everyone.

🍗Thursday 6 August – Street Food Night | 4:00pm – 8:00pm
Award-winning Chicken Ting will be serving their incredible fried chicken wings alongside drinks from the farm.

With no entry fee, no need to book, plenty of outdoor seating, and space for children to run around, it’s the perfect summer evening for families and friends. Gates remain open until 9:30pm.

Treat yourself to a relaxing evening in the flower field with ref0rmr.

🧘🏻‍♀️Saturday 8 August – Morning Mat Pilates | 9:00am
Start your weekend surrounded by wildflowers before the field opens to the public. Enjoy a peaceful 50-minute class as the swallows dance overhead, then grab a coffee or stay to pick flowers afterwards.

🧘 Sunday 9 August – Morning Yoga Practice | 9:00am
Join Fiona from Fiona | Yoga & Pilates Instructor for a gentle, mindful yoga session amongst the flowers or beneath our beautiful big top tent.

Suitable for all abilities, this class focuses on breathwork, gentle movement and relaxation, the perfect way to reset for the week ahead.

£20 per person. Booking essential linked via our website.

🌸 The Flower Field is also open daily (Thursday–Monday) from 10:00am–4:00pm for Pick Your Own Wildflowers, with homemade cakes, barista coffee, farm produce, gifts and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the Yorkshire countryside.

The Flower Field Updates

🚜 The Flower Field will be CLOSED this Thursday (30 July) due to staff shortages, as James will be out combining.

🌼 We’ll be back open as normal on Friday 31 July, from 10:00am–4:00pm, and we can’t wait to welcome you back!

PLEASE NOTE: We won’t be hosting a food night this week. Our next evening event is on Thursday 6 August, when the award-winning Chicken Ting will be serving up their incredible wings and loaded fries – definitely one not to miss!

🧘‍♀️ Then on Friday 7 August, we’ll be hosting our second Pilates, Sip & Pick evening. This is a pre-booked event, and there are only a limited number of places remaining, so book now to avoid disappointment!

We have some exciting news to share…

James has been shortlisted for Regenerative Farmer of the Year at the British Farming Awards 2026!

To be nominated by Ben and the amazing team at Bishopton Farm Team was an honour in itself, but to now be one of the final three alongside two other inspiring farm businesses is something we’re really proud of.

Our regenerative farming journey began back in 2019. During lockdown, James found the time to research the work of Gabe Brown, whose approach to farming inspired him to rethink how we cared for our land.

That passion sparked some big changes.

Since then, we’ve embraced the five key principles of regenerative farming, introduced farmermobil® - der Mobilstall mobile egg units, mob grazing livestock, adding cover crops and herbal lays to our arable rotations and planting wildflower margins amongst many more changes that help us to work with nature, rather than agains it, building healthy ecosystems both below and above the ground.

Today, we’re proud to offer a small but diverse range of produce that we sell directly from the farm - food that’s better for the land, better for wildlife, better for us, and doesn’t cost the earth in more ways than one. 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Your encouragement and continued support means the world.
