This week I’ve been thinking about trust.

Not just in business… but in general.

With everything going on at the moment – elections coming up, opinions everywhere, headlines, social media, AI, all of it – I don’t think I’ve ever known a time where people are so vocal about what they believe… and yet so unsure about what’s actually true.

And I saw it play out in a really simple way this week in my own business.

A client emailed me. I replied… but it went to the wrong person in my contacts with the same name.

So as far as I was concerned, I’d done my bit.

When I didn’t hear back, I assumed he’d just decided not to go ahead. You know how it is – people get busy, change their minds… I didn’t question it.

Then he came back to me and said, ā€œWhat’s the point in your marketing if you don’t get back to people?ā€

Honestly… I was mortified.

Because he thought one thing.
I thought something completely different.

Same situation. Two completely different beliefs.

And it made me realise how often that probably happens.
Not just in business… but everywhere.

We make assumptions.
We fill in the gaps.
We decide what’s true without always checking.

I work with people from all walks of life – different backgrounds, different beliefs, different opinions – and yet there’s no conflict.

Because when it comes down to it, the things that actually matter are simple:
Being honest
Doing what you say you’re going to do
Treating people properly

We might not be able to control everything going on out there.
But we can control how we show up.

And in a world where trust feels a bit… shaky at times, that probably matters more than ever.

If you like these slightly deeper (and occasionally chaotic) thoughts, I share them in my emails every week.

We’re finishing April inside the membership with something that always comes up…

Money.

But not in a complicated, overwhelming way.

Just a proper, honest look at how to actually understand what’s going on in your business šŸ‘€

I’ve got James Bennett from J-Benn Finance Ltd joining us live on 30th April at 1pm, and he’s going to break it all down in a way that actually makes sense.

He’s my accountant (so yes, I trust him with my numbers šŸ˜…), and he’s brilliant at helping business owners move from:
ā€œI’ve got the numbersā€¦ā€ to ā€œI actually understand what they mean.ā€

Inside the session, we’ll be covering:
– How to understand your financial statements
– Why cash flow matters (and how it’s different to profit)
– Which KPIs actually matter
– How to use your numbers to make better decisions

If you’ve ever looked at your finances and thought ā€œI should probably understand this betterā€¦ā€ This one’s for you.

If you’re already in the membership, I’ll see you there.
If not… and this sounds like exactly what you need, you can join us. Link in comments šŸ‘‡

What an incredible afternoon at the Lady McAdden International Women’s Day Lunch.
I was invited to join the panel alongside some truly inspiring women to share our stories and talk about what International Women’s Day means to us.
My focus was on collaboration.
As a trustee of Big Purple Pants, I see first-hand how important collaboration between charities is. Lady McAdden has been an incredible support for people in our community living with secondary breast cancer, and partnerships like this make a real difference to people’s lives.
One of the messages I shared on the panel was simple: be kind.
My mum always used to say, ā€œIf you haven’t got anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.ā€ But I’d add one more thing to that – if you do have something kind to say, say it. It might be exactly what someone needs to hear that day.
The room was full of energy, generosity and women lifting each other up. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together to support the amazing work Lady McAdden does in the local community.
A brilliant afternoon raising money, sharing stories and celebrating women.

Strong minds don’t mean easy journeys.
On Thursday I stood on stage at the South East & Central Essex Mind event and shared something very personal – my mental health journey through life and business.
The room was full of incredible women.ļæ½There were tears, laughter, huge energy and – most importantly – honesty.
Real stories.ļæ½Real struggles.ļæ½Real strength.
No masking. No pretending everything is perfect. Just women showing up as they are and reminding each other that we’re not alone.
I’m so grateful to SECE Mind for inviting me as one of their ā€œstrong womenā€ to share my story. It meant more than I can explain, and I know some of the conversations afterwards showed that it resonated with people in the room.
Today is International Women’s Day, and this event felt like the perfect reminder of why spaces like this matter.
Women supporting women.ļæ½Listening to each other.ļæ½Lifting each other up.
I’ll be sharing a few more moments from different events this week, but for now – thank you to everyone who made Thursday so special šŸ’œ

International Women’s Day is this Sunday, but for me it’s a whole week of supporting women in business.
Speaking.ļæ½Collaborating.ļæ½Sharing opportunities.
From awards launches to mental health events, panel talks and conferences – it’s a busy March.
If you’re a woman in business who’d like to collaborate or speak at future events, send me a message.

If your business feels fine on the outside but a bit chaotic behind the scenes, this is for you.

In February, inside the Plan it. Do it. Grow it. Membership, I’m bringing in Louise Lambert from Plain Sailing Tech Training to talk about systems – in a way that actually makes sense for small businesses.

This isn’t about fancy software or having everything perfectly set up. It’s about stopping everything living in your head, reducing admin, and putting a few foundations in place before things start to feel unmanageable.

If you’ve ever thought, ā€œI know this could be easier, I just don’t know where to startā€, this session will help.

Sign up to get access to the membership ✨ VIP membership is still open but ending soon – Use VIP295 (annual) or VIP29 (monthly) at checkout https://iaeacademy.uk/plan-do-grow-sign-up

Today is World Cancer Day.
Cancer affects millions of people, but it doesn’t define who they are. People are more than a diagnosis, more than a statistic – and that’s what today is about.
The World Cancer Day theme United by Unique places people at the centre of care, recognising that everyone’s experience of cancer is different.
One area that doesn’t get talked about enough is secondary (metastatic) breast cancer.
It’s treatable, but it isn’t curable – and people can live with it for years, often while still working, parenting, and showing up for everyone else.
That’s why I’m a trustee of Big Purple Pants, a local charity supporting people living with secondary breast cancer. It’s deeply personal to me, and something I care about hugely. Support like this doesn’t exist everywhere – and locally, it really matters.
Big Purple Pants also collaborates with other breast cancer and cancer charities to support our wider community, because no one organisation can do this alone.
If you’re able to help, you can:
• Make a donation
• Sponsor an event
• Donate a raffle prize
• Or simply share what we do
The link to donate is in my bio (under who we support), or you can DM me if you’d like to support in another way.
As a small business owner, supporting local causes isn’t an add-on for me – it’s part of how I work and who I am.
Today feels like a good day to talk about that.

Today is World Cancer Day.

Cancer affects millions of people, but no two experiences are the same. This year’s theme, United by Unique, reminds us that people are always more than a diagnosis.

One area that often goes unseen is secondary (metastatic) breast cancer. It’s treatable, but not curable – and people can live with it for many years, often while still working, parenting, and supporting others.

I’m a trustee of Big Purple Pants, a local charity supporting people living with secondary breast cancer. It’s something I care deeply about, and I’m incredibly proud to be involved.

There aren’t many charities – and certainly not one locally – focused specifically on secondary breast cancer. Big Purple Pants also works alongside other breast cancer and cancer charities to support our wider community, because collaboration really matters.

If you’d like to support, you can sponsor an event, donate a raffle prize, or simply get in touch to help in another way.

If you'd like to donate, you can do here: https://www.bigpurplepants.org.uk/support-us

Supporting local causes is something I believe small businesses should be part of – the impact is real, and it stays close to home.

January went by in a blur… but I also don’t feel like the year has fully started yet.

I work much more by seasons, and right now still feels like winter – slower, quieter, more about putting things in place than pushing hard.

That’s exactly how we’ve approached January inside Plan it. Do it. Grow it.
And February is about systems, structure and smoother operations – small, practical changes that make your business easier to run.

You don’t need to have joined in January. You’re not behind. February is a really good place to start.

✨ VIP membership is still open

Use VIP295 (yearly) or VIP29 (monthly)
These rates will be increasing soon.

šŸ’¬ Do you work by calendar dates or by seasons?
