If you’ve started an Etsy shop and not made money, it’s probably not Etsy’s fault 😭

I know that’s not what people want to hear.

The first reaction is always “Etsy is saturated”, “the algorithm hates me”, “nobody buys on Etsy anymore”.

Maybe.

But the much more likely explanation is that the shop just isn’t there yet.

When I started selling posters, most of my designs got absolutely no traction. No sales. No favourites. Barely any views. If I’d judged Etsy based on my first 50 products, I’d have told everyone it was a complete waste of time.

Luckily I kept uploading.

Eventually a few products started selling. Then I made more like those products. Then a few more started selling. Over time the catalogue became good enough and large enough that the whole thing started compounding.

That’s usually what successful Etsy shops look like.

Not one genius product.
Not one lucky break.

Just lots of iterations until you find what works.

That’s why I always tell people to stop blaming Etsy after 20 listings and 3 weeks. Most shops haven’t even given themselves a chance at that point.

I’m talking about posters.

I think most people assume wall art is one of those cheap products where you need hundreds of sales to make any money. Then they see someone spend £80, £120, or even more on a large framed print and suddenly realise why so many Etsy sellers quietly love this niche.

I know that doesn’t sound particularly exciting compared to all the fake “I made £50,000 today” screenshots you see online, but honestly these are the days I like the most.

Nothing crazy happened.

No viral product.

No lucky break.

Just people buying posters I’d uploaded weeks, months, and sometimes years ago.

That’s when you realise you’ve actually built something.

A couple of years ago I was celebrating a single sale. Now I’ll check my phone throughout the day and see orders quietly coming through from products I’d completely forgotten about.

Why NOT to take this route with print on demand…

If your entire plan is to sell t-shirts and buy a £997 course from someone standing next to a rented Lamborghini, I’d genuinely save your money 😭

I spent years looking at online business models and one thing always stood out to me.

The people shouting the loudest about t-shirts seemed to make most of their money teaching people how to sell t-shirts.

That should probably tell you something.

Meanwhile there are thousands of Etsy sellers quietly making really good money selling products nobody talks about.

Posters are one of them.

Nobody makes flashy YouTube ads about posters. Nobody rents a supercar to tell you about wall art. People just build shops, upload products, make sales, and get on with their lives.

That’s exactly why I like the niche.

The margins are good, people are always buying wall art, and the whole thing is much more scalable than most people realise.

People think Print on Demand is washed but forget about this product…

Posters.

Everyone talks about POD like the only options are t-shirts, hoodies and mugs.

That’s probably why so many people think the whole industry is dead.

Meanwhile people are still buying wall art every single day.

People move house.
People redecorate.
People buy gifts.
People fill empty walls.

That demand isn’t going anywhere.

That’s why I built my Etsy shops around posters and framed prints. The margins are better than most people expect, they’re easy to scale, and you don’t need hundreds of sales a day for the numbers to start getting interesting.

Because I genuinely think it’s one of the most realistic online businesses you can start today.
