๐ Today is World Password Day โฆ and yes, weโre looking at you ๐
Be honest - how many of your passwords are slight variations of the same thing?
Password123
Password123!
Password123!!
Or maybe you're a post-it fiend - scribbling your password onto a post-it and then sticking it to your screen, or laptop.
Weโve all been there. Life's busy and you just know your password will have disappeared into the ether at the next update and you'll be asked to enter it. And then it's that whole palaver with the emails and the codes and not getting the email and not getting the code, and aaaaarrrrgh!!!!
But hereโs the thing โ weak passwords donโt just risk your own data. For charities, they can put sensitive client information, case notes and reporting at risk too. You know this. But it bears repeating because it's So. Incredibly. Important.
So this World Password Day, it might be time for a quick spring clean:
โ
Use a password manager (no more sticky notes)
โ
Make passwords long, random and unique
โ
Turn on two-factor authentication wherever you can
โ
Avoid sharing logins between colleagues (yep, we know it happensโฆ)
It doesnโt have to be complicated โ just a few small changes can make a big difference.
Hereโs to fewer spreadsheets, fewer shared logins, and a lot more peace of mind ๐
