Top Tip: Know what is expected of you

Whether its eventing, dressage or showjumping it is easier than ever to know exactly what you will be expected to do before you even get to your competition venue.

Rule/handbooks online, virtual course walks for cross country and for dressage a test where you are told which you are riding weeks if not months prior to competition. If you know your sport there can be no surprises.

So this is my tip for you, read the rulebook, know what is and isn’t allowed at your competition level and more importantly know, out of what is required, what your horse finds hard. This will allow you to tailor your training accordingly and make a plan rather than executing those adhoc training sessions we are all guilty of.

Luckily for you we are compiling a series of handy fact sheet of what is expected at each level, in each discipline as well as some top tips for how you can train for success in the ring.
