Chimney Re-Render

This was a small project to re-render a chimney.

The customer had recently had a new roof installed, which required new leadwork to be fitted. As you can see from the images below, the bottom section of the chimney had to be broken out during the roofing works.

We first installed 15mm plastic beading to the chimney and protected the slates below with plastic sheeting.

All surfaces were then scarified using a grinder and coated with SBR to create a strong key for the new render.

The product chosen for this project was Weber One Coat, which was applied to the 15mm plastic beading. We then applied the first coat of render, embedding reinforcing mesh before following up with the top coat shortly afterwards.

The project was finished with a traditional sponge-finished sand and cement render, leaving a clean, durable, and weather-resistant finish.

Briars Patch – Garage Loft Conversion

We recently transformed a garage loft space into a stylish and functional studio apartment, completing a full programme of internal and external works.

Internal Works

* Installation of new tongue-and-groove chipboard flooring throughout.
* Roof space and vaulted ceilings fully insulated to current standards.
* Vapour control barrier installed to improve thermal performance and moisture protection.
* First-fix carpentry completed.
* Staircase and landing reconfigured and rotated 180 degrees to optimise the layout.
* First-fix plumbing and electrical installations completed.
* Walls and ceilings boarded with 12mm plasterboard and finished with multi-finish plaster.
* Decoration throughout, including spray-finished ceilings and roller-applied wall paint.
* Installation of winter oak-effect laminate flooring to living areas.
* Feature wall created using acoustic panelling.
* Second-fix carpentry completed.
* Second-fix plumbing and electrical works completed, with all visible fittings finished in chrome.
* Bespoke kitchen supplied and installed from Howdens⁠.
* Holdenby Oak internal doors installed and finished with Osmo oil.
* Mid-grey carpet fitted in the bedroom area.
* Comprehensive builders’ clean carried out upon completion.
* Black silicone bead applied throughout where skirting boards meet the flooring, providing a clean and professional finish.

External Works

* Existing side pathway raised and concreted to create level access to the new entrance.
* Installation of a 6-foot privacy fence to enhance security and seclusion.

The result is a high-quality studio apartment that maximises the available space while delivering a modern, comfortable, and durable living environment.

Project Outcome
This garage loft conversion has been transformed into a contemporary studio apartment, providing a bright, comfortable, and practical living space. Careful attention to detail throughout the build, from the structural alterations and insulation works to the final decorative finishes, has resulted in a high-quality addition that maximises both space and functionality.

That's another one done this morning (annex) - I did the main roof before Christmas and got back today to do the annex after the builder done the cladding.
