Over the past two weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Cameron to FastPrint for a period of work experience through Little Gate Farm.
Cameron was keen to learn more about the printing industry and the journey a job takes from artwork through to the finished product, and we were very happy to give him the opportunity to experience as much of the process as possible.
During his time with us, Cameron spent time in our studio, where he learned about preparing artwork for print, helped configure our digital presses and produced a selection of flyers and posters. He then followed these jobs through to our finishing department, seeing how printed materials are trimmed, folded, packed and prepared for dispatch to our clients.
Cameron also gained experience in our large-format department, helping to load the printer and run a variety of jobs. To round off his experience, he spent some time in our shop, greeting customers and getting involved with stock control.
Cameron told us about his passion for creativity and painting, which gave us an idea! We asked him to bring in some of his artwork so that we could help him turn his paintings into a range of artist greeting cards. This gave him the opportunity to experience the complete process once again — from the studio and print production through to finishing.
Cameron has been a real asset to the FastPrint team during his time with us. He took on board a huge amount of information, retained what he learned and put it into practice to create these fantastic cards, which he’ll be selling at a craft show in November.
