I’ve been a little quieter on here recently 🤍

Running Pick N Mix alongside working full time means life can get pretty busy, so I’ve been making more of an effort to actually switch off when I need to.

And I completely understand the pressure that can come with social media, feeling like you should always be posting, showing up, creating content and staying visible.

So I’ve had a little time out of office, enjoyed some slower days and reminded myself that it’s okay to step away for a bit.

Behind the scenes, I’m still working on client SEO, websites, content and all the usual Pick N Mix bits ✨ I’m just trying to find a better balance between being present online and actually enjoying life offline too.

A little reset was definitely needed, and I’m back feeling ready for September💗

It sounds simple, but this is one of those little marketing jobs that can easily get forgotten.
Instagram and Facebook can filter messages from people you don’t follow into your requests folder and that could include genuine enquiries, potential customers or someone ready to book with you.

I genuinely love marketing. I love creating content, sharing ideas and having a space where I can post authentically. And it’s not always about finding the next client or making a sale.

Sometimes, I post simply because I enjoy it.

There’s something really rewarding about creating something that feels authentically *you*, putting it out there and watching it grow.

Pick N Mix started with me taking a chance on something I loved, and I’m so glad I did.

So, if there’s something you’ve been thinking about doing, whether that’s starting a little side project, learning something new, putting an idea into action or simply doing more of something you enjoy, this is your sign to go for it!

You don’t need to have everything figured out, and it doesn’t have to become your whole life. Sometimes it’s just about giving yourself the chance to do something that makes you happy.

An honest one from me…🤍

I’ve always been someone who shows up for others, often putting myself right at the bottom of the list.

But running Pick N Mix Marketing continues to remind me that showing up for yourself matters too. Protecting your wellbeing, recognising your limits and making space for the things you need isn’t selfish, it’s essential.

I’m still learning to give myself the same time, care and encouragement that I so freely give to everyone else.

Because showing up like the CEO of your dreams doesn’t mean pushing yourself constantly. Sometimes, it means knowing when to slow down, protect your energy & put yourself first🤍

A little Pick N Mix update… I’m officially part of the Shop Local Cheshire | Discover Local community!🩷

One of my favourite things about running Pick N Mix is getting to discover, meet and work alongside so many amazing independent businesses. There’s SO much talent on our doorstep, and I’m a big believer in shouting about it whenever we can.

So joining a community that’s all about championing local businesses felt like a bit of a no-brainer!

And of course, Robyn had to inspect the new office sign before it was allowed anywhere near my desk… safe to say it passed quality control😂🐾

Stop overthinking your marketing 👀

You don’t need to post every day, jump on every trend or have everything perfectly figured out.

Good marketing is about showing people, who you are, what you do and why they should choose you.

Be consistent. Be useful. Be yourself.

And most importantly, actually put yourself out there💗

A recent experience got me thinking about AI and how we’re using it within marketing & design 👀

I recently came across something I’d originally designed that had been used for an AI-generated version. It made me think about where the line sits between inspiration and recreation.

I’m a big fan of AI. I use it myself and think it’s an amazing tool for saving time and supporting creativity.

But it should support creativity, not replace it.
We’re already starting to see so much content that has that same AI look, similar graphics, layouts, wording and styles. Your marketing shouldn’t look like everybody else’s, and someone else’s creative work shouldn’t become a shortcut for creating your own.

Behind every original design is someone’s time, ideas and creativity!

Use AI, embrace it and let it make your life easier but put your own brand, personality and ideas into what you create.

Starting your socials from scratch can feel a little overwhelming 😅

Where do you start? What do you post? And do you really need to be on every platform?

If I was building my social media presence from zero, here’s what I’d focus on first 👇

✨ Get clear on who you actually want to reach
✨ Choose the platforms where those people are spending their time
✨ Make sure your profile clearly explains who you are + what you do
✨ Create a few simple content pillars to keep your ideas focused
✨ Prioritise useful, engaging content over posting just for the sake of it
✨ Show the person behind the business — people connect with people!
✨ Be consistent, but choose a schedule you can actually maintain
✨ Engage with other accounts instead of posting and disappearing

And most importantly? Don’t wait until everything looks perfect to start. Your content, confidence and strategy will naturally develop as you go.

Social media should support your business, not become another full-time job💗

And if you’d rather hand it over to someone else… that’s exactly where I come in 👋
