The world's oldest packaging has been updated for the first time in 150 years. Well, some of it.

Tate & Lyle's Golden Syrup has received a labelling facelift for their plastic squeezy bottles full of the sticky stuff.

However, the Victorian style metal tin will continue to brandish the traditional design, along with charming sketch of a dead lion.

Good to know: It's actually bees above the lion carcass in the original design. 🐝 Always thought it was flies 😬

Which seemed weird, albeit more logical than bees. Until we learnt the design was based on a story from The Old Testament (Judges 14:5–9) in which Samson kills a lion only to later find a beehive in its chest.

So there you have it - Not weird at all 👀

Now we can all feel so much better, how are you feeling about the new designs? About time? Or a shame to abandon the heritage for something more modern and relatable, with the danger of looking a lot like everything else?
