If you’re ready to start a business, or thinking of updating your company’s brand, make sure you have a logo that’s simple, reflects your service or product, is versatile, original and well balanced.
Your logo is often the first impression your customers see when interacting with your business. An uncluttered simple logo will stand out against one that is crammed with elements and colours and is the first step to being a memorable symbol for your business.
Originality also is a very important factor. Beware of all the ‘off-the-shelf’ logo designs that are so commonly on offer. They are the generic ones that include elements that are simply not relevant to a business. Think about all the unique points about your business, the details that make you different from your competitors. These factors can be translated into a logo design that stands apart and gives you that edge in a competitive market. Just having a ‘nice shape’ won’t communicate anything about your business. That ‘nice shape’ has to be relevant.
Your logo needs to be versatile. It needs to be easily replicable, for use on stationery, clothing, signage, vehicles, products the list goes on. A simple logo with few colours will achieve this. An adaptive logo can also extend its versatility, where a logo exists in varying sizes, configurations or colour reversals without loosing your company’s voice; a black on white version and a white on black version for example.
The logo must be scaleable, to have the ability to reproduce it at any size. So extremely advisable to have a vector format that can be scaled up for large signs for example without loosing definition.
Finally, a successful logo needs to have balance. People seem to automatically recognise proportion. They know when something appears off. A beautifully proportioned logo will stand out against a logo that has a great concept but has something just slightly uncomfortable about its balance.
A good, simple, versatile original and well proportioned logo can be a sound investment for a company. Get in touch to see how we can help.
