It’s been a joy to work on design and illustration for over the past few years. When I first started working with Sophia it was lockdown and she was delivering bread from her kitchen to her local community — since then Sophia has opened four bakeries! I’ve been in awe of Sophia’s energy, vision and determination and her wonderful staff and collaborators. I’m honoured to have played a part in the journey too, developing the visual identity and brand collateral: menus, packaging, signage, merchandise and more! Here’s a little glimpse of some of my work and photos of the Highgate store, beautifully captured by also showing some of the gorgeous interior design by . Go check out for the most recent store opening (and no doubt more to follow!).

A little look back at this brand identity for a coffee business I worked on some years ago. One of the key considerations about developing a brand identity is how it will evolve with the company and retain consistency across multiple outputs. Finding out the company story and ethos is key for forming a timeless identity that is authentic to its roots.

A rebrand for Soudough Sophia, an independent bakery in London that is going from strength to strength. Versatile illustrations formed the cornerstone for the visual identity, which could be used in isolation or to form a bespoke pattern. Brand guidelines were also developed to ensure future consistency across all designs. The result is a visual identity that increases brand recognition and reflects the charm of the bakery.

Brand identity work for the brilliant – creators of delicate jewellery made with high-quality, ethically sourced materials. They needed a brand identity that reflected the quality of their products and bespoke service. A logo was created using tiny dots, referencing the ‘teeny beads’ used in the jewellery and incorporating colours from the glass beads that were also subtly used throughout their website. The logo is minimal so as not to distract from the hero – the products themselves – and is also versatile to use both digitally and in print, enabling it to be embossed or foiled for a luxury feel to the packaging. The gift boxes and jewellery were brought to life with the beautiful photography of .

Here’s me working In the studio before I had to move to my ‘home office’ (slash slightly less glamorous spare room). The current crisis has impacted a lot of businesses negatively, but there are those that have products and services that are key in meeting people’s needs at this time. I’m fortunate to be working with some of them (albeit remotely!), helping them with design solutions that ensure they connect more people to what they have to offer. If you’d like to work with me too please get in touch 🤙 .

Recently had lots of challenging discussion about how we can counteract our throwaway culture and use our positions to have a positive impact. It’s challenging as a designer — the use of materials is important and often there is a necessity to throw away less-than-perfect experiments to develop and learn. It’s made me think more about how we can re-use materials and also how we can be more intentional about who we work with. Are we able to turn down work that encourages fast fashion or exploitation of our world’s resources? Do we want to produce work that is thrown out with last year’s trends or work that has a positive and lasting impact? .
