Before you scan that QR code... do you know where it’s actually taking you? 🛑📱

"Quishing" (QR Phishing) is once again on the rise.

We’ve become so accustomed to scanning QR codes for menus, parking, and payments that we’ve stopped questioning where they lead. Scammers are sticking fake QR codes over real ones on parking machines and public posters to hijack your data.

I’ve put together a quick guide to help you stay safe:

🚩 Check for stickers: If it’s peeled at the edges, leave it alone.
🔗 The 1-Second Preview: Always look at the URL pop-up before you click.
⌨️ When in doubt: Type it out!

Look what landed! 📬

Dad said "delivering these won't result in much," and Mum joked it's "junk mail on the doormat" (thanks, guys! 😂 - they are very supportive, promise!). But... I’ve already had my first direct enquiry from a neighbour I’ve never met! 📈

My new Iris Web Media flyers are hitting doormats this week, hitching a ride with the Stotfold News Magazine, Arlesey News and The Meppershall Messenger.

Being in The Meppershall Messenger is a total full-circle moment for me. From age 7–14, I wrote "The Lucy Pages" for the village. Now, I’m back in its pages sharing tech tips to help our local community stay safe online.

It’s a great reminder that while I work in digital, personal connection and local awareness are still the ultimate "algorithm."

Huge thanks to the magazine teams for the distribution, and to the SWEF Enterprise Fund, managed by Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation. This grant allowed me to print these assets and get my message out there.

Channelling my inner Postman Pat today. 📬

Genuinely brilliant support for small businesses and it means a lot.
