When The Marketing Department Annoys You, You’ve Got a Problem.
You witness the LinkedIn posts, a few blogs here and there, the occasional email blast the strange internal Newsletter about employees dogs. No clear direction, no real purpose. No reader conversation…..Just busy marketing fluff.
🚨 The warning signs:
• Content goes out… but no one knows why.
• No KPIs, no targets just “brand awareness” (whatever that means).
• Marketing and the business aren’t speaking the same language. Marketing never attends the business meetings
• The CEO isn’t sure what to measure, and is irritated with the marketing calls asking for content The marketing lead isn’t sure how to advise and keeps doing the same and getting the same results. Which are not measured anyway so equals in = fluff
This isn’t marketing. It’s noise.
The solution?
✔️ Define KPIs that actually matter to the business. Is it leads you need?
✔️ Align marketing with sales, are your sales team also finding leads? Marketing generates the leads for the sales team to close, and it’s measured.
✔️ Give your marketing strategy not just content.
✔️ Stop the “posting” of random messages about the team on linked in, (does anyone care) start marking content your audience finds insightful.
So, is your marketing driving the business or just filling the void?
Do you know where to start to make the change?
Any of these questions hit a nerve, then let’s chat. I’ve created a process that puts all this into to place for you, it’s done for you, at a fraction of a full time CMO hire.
