Do you know what's really annoying?

Watching somebody with half your experience become twice as visible as you.
You know the ones.

Every time you open L.inkedIn they're there again, talking about their topic, sharing their expertise and popping up in your feed often enough that you could probably identify their profile picture from space.

Meanwhile, you've been meaning to "sort L.inkedIn out" since approximately the same time we all started promising we'd drink more water and clear out the junk kitchen drawer.

The frustrating part is that visibility isn't always going to the most experienced person.

It's going to the person who's easiest to remember.

L.inkedIn is becoming increasingly focused on authority and topic recognition, which means the platform is constantly trying to work out who talks about what and who should be seeing it.

That becomes difficult when your content appears once every three weeks, covers seventeen different topics and is created in a mild panic because you suddenly remembered you haven't posted anything since Easter.

I'm tired.

Not "I need an early night" tired.

I'm talking about the kind of tired where your soul is drained and your brain feels full before the day has even started. The kind where you've got client work, life admin, emails, marketing, content, a business to run and approximately 437 tabs open in your head at the same time.

And I know I'm not the only one.

Which is why I've become such a HUGE fan of Lin.kedIn newsletters.

Not because they're trendy or Link.edIn says I should.
But because I've realised they're an asset.

You write one newsletter and it keeps working long after you've hit publish.

People discover it weeks later.
Sometimes months later.

I've got newsletters, and so do my clients, that are still being read 6 to 12 months after they were written and published.

That's a lot better than constantly wondering what you're supposed to post today.

One newsletter can become social posts, carousel posts, emails, blogs, lead magnets, reels and more. Instead of creating content from scratch every day, you're building something that keeps earning its keep.

They fail because they post in fits and starts. A flurry when motivation strikes, then radio silence when the actual work piles up. L.inkedIn can't build anything on stop-start, and your audience forgets you between appearances.

I've been thinking a lot recently about the difference between attention and intention.

On the surface they can look very similar.

People tell you they're interested. They tell you they'd love to work with you, buy from you, start the thing they've been talking about for months or finally get around to doing whatever has been sitting on their to-do list.

Most of the time they mean it.

The trouble is that attention feels good in the moment, whereas intention only reveals itself later.

Intention is the bit that gets on with making it happen.

Over the years I've noticed that some of the most successful people I know aren't necessarily the most talented or knowledgeable.

What they tend to be is consistent.

When they decide to do something, they find a way to move it forward. It doesn't always happen perfectly, but eventually the action catches up with the words.

I think that's why so many business owners struggle with visibility.

It's rarely a lack of ideas. Most have bl00dy brilliant ideas.

What they're short of is time, headspace and a clear plan.

Client work gets busy, life gets busy, and before you know it another month has gone by without posting anything meaningful.

Most business owners don't actually hate L.inkedIn.

They hate the feeling that comes with it.

Opening the app and seeing everyone else posting while you've been meaning to write something for three weeks.

Knowing visibility matters but having absolutely no idea what to say.

Staring at a blank screen, convincing yourself you'll do it tomorrow, then wondering where another month disappeared to when you still haven't posted.

I've lost count of how many people have told me "I really should be posting on L.inkedIn more."

It's usually said with the same energy as "I really should drink more water."

And it's the same problem, isn't it?

You know it's good for you, you fully intend to but you just never do it consistently. Why? Because you've never turned it into a habit you could actually stick to.

I get it, it's not your fault.
