Curiosity = the creative spark for good copy…
I love the variety of my job. Being naturally curious, I’m best knowing a little about a lot.
I find that the diversity of writing for brands in different industries keeps ideas fresh, and helps words flow.
Every day’s different, so there’s no stagnation.
This week, a work chat with a potential client came round to me not having written before for their particular field.
I was off, launched into how I like to be bombarded with information so I can do an immersive deep dive and surface with new ideas and a fresh take…
… and they stopped me because they already understood.
They didn’t want me to come at it with an expert view.
They want to stand out from the crowd, find a point of difference and approach what they do from an angle that’s new, interesting, unique and easy to grasp for a layperson…
… because that’s what their potential customers are, at first.
(Don’t you love when someone just gets it? 😁)
So my pick for the best soft skill a copywriter can have is 💯 curiosity.
