Algorithms are changing due to search behaviour, so now you need to be thinking about the keywords you're putting in your posts.

Build a community behind your photography studio! Make a group related to your types of photoshoots. This will build authority and trust.

For example, a Facebook group for local dog owners. Share your thoughts on great dog walks and products. Invite leads and past clients into this group.

Don't post too much about your service, but every now and then, hint at what you do.

Leads will gradually warm to you when you consistently add more content. They'll also see your past clients interacting with you, and hopefully, they'll be praising your service too.

Are you contacting leads during the day and seeing low conversion/booking rates?
Think about your target audience. When are they available?

It might be time to change your strategy. Consider reaching out to your leads later in the day, when they aren't working. Or reach out via text or WhatsApp as soon as they show interest and try arranging a good time to call later in the day.

This might not be ideal for your work-life balance, but if you're motivated by money, you'll do whatever it takes.

Top 5 lead generation mistakes that we see in the photography industry and how to start fixing them.

1) Poor website design - If it looks ugly, loads slowly, and it's hard to navigate, then traffic will leave. It could be time for a redesign.

2) Relying on one lead source - Imagine your only lead source starts to fail...game over! Make sure you have a source from existing clients, organic marketing, and paid advertising.

3) Ignore email marketing - Make your life easier by automating the emails you use regularly along your customer journey. Also, start a newsletter to stay in the minds of past clients and your prospects.

4) No social proof - People want to see others using and loving your experience and products. Ask for reviews, share screenshots of happy client messages, and start producing User-generated content (UGC)

5) Not following up - Contact leads faster and more times. At the very least, set up an automated email to let them know you'll be reaching out.

Photographers, are you seeing fewer leads, lower conversions, and smaller customer spends right now? Don't panic! We're well into Q4 now, which includes events like Black Friday and, of course, the run-up to Christmas.

Q4 means higher ad spends, due to the expected increase in pre-Christmas advertising. You'll also find that most of the country are prioritising their finances elsewhere.

โœ… Improving your offer - make it something they can't refuse
โœ… Follow up leads faster

If you're not so starved of leads and don't want to waste ad budget on potentially low spenders...
โœ… Use the next couple of months to build awareness
โœ… Spend time streamlining processes
โœ… Set some goals for 2026
