Communication matters. Right now, it matters more than ever.
As a creative designer, communication in all its forms is at the heart of everything I do. This week, my city has been shaken by the revelation of a devastating failure of communication.
Henry Nowak was murdered in cold blood and failed by a system designed to protect us. A lie told by his killer was believed over the words of a dying man who repeatedly said, “I’ve been stabbed.”
Since then, Henry’s death has become another battleground for political division. Left versus Right. Anger versus apathy. Yet neither seems to be changing anything.
The UK sees more than 100 stabbings every day. The sad truth is that what is hurting our communities most is not simply division, but a lack of action, accountability, and meaningful dialogue.
My city, like many across the country, continues to face growing violence and frustration. No amount of shouting, rioting, or political point-scoring will fix that. Real change begins when we listen, communicate, and create space for difficult conversations through any creative form available to us.
Communication matters. Whether through words, design, art, film, music, or public discussion, it remains one of the most powerful tools we have for understanding each other and driving change.
