TypeTown is free. We want to be clear about that and about why.
We made the decision early and we have not changed it. The children who most need an engaging, accessible typing tool are often in families and schools that are already doing a lot with very little. Parents navigating SEN systems on top of everything else. Schools stretching limited SEND budgets across multiple children with multiple needs. Adding a subscription cost to something built to help those children felt fundamentally wrong.
So TypeTown is free. It will stay free. And we would ask anyone who finds it useful to share it with the next parent, teacher, or SEN coordinator who might need it. That is the only way it reaches the children it was built for.
It works on any device with a keyboard. It is designed for primary school age. It was built because a parent needed it to exist and could not find it anywhere else. If you know a child who finds handwriting difficult, who has been recommended typing practice by an occupational therapist or a school, or who simply needs a different way into written work, please share this with them.
