TypeTown is free. We want to be clear about that and about why.

We made the decision early and we have not changed it. The children who most need an engaging, accessible typing tool are often in families and schools that are already doing a lot with very little. Parents navigating SEN systems on top of everything else. Schools stretching limited SEND budgets across multiple children with multiple needs. Adding a subscription cost to something built to help those children felt fundamentally wrong.

So TypeTown is free. It will stay free. And we would ask anyone who finds it useful to share it with the next parent, teacher, or SEN coordinator who might need it. That is the only way it reaches the children it was built for.

It works on any device with a keyboard. It is designed for primary school age. It was built because a parent needed it to exist and could not find it anywhere else. If you know a child who finds handwriting difficult, who has been recommended typing practice by an occupational therapist or a school, or who simply needs a different way into written work, please share this with them.

For children who struggle with handwriting due to Dyspraxia, dyslexia, or other developmental differences, the ability to type confidently is one of the most important things they can develop. It is not an accommodation or a workaround. It is a genuine route to academic participation, to being able to get their ideas out of their head and onto a screen without the act of writing becoming the obstacle between them and the subject they are trying to engage with.

But typing practice only works if children will actually do it. And children will only do something willingly if there is a reason to come back. Obligation is not enough. Neither is a progress bar.

TypeTown was built around the insight that the reward has to feel real and immediate. The town-building mechanic is not decorative. It is the reason a child who would otherwise avoid typing practice will sit down and open TypeTown, because the reward, a town that grows with every word, is visible, cumulative, and entirely theirs.

We would particularly love to hear from SEN coordinators, class teachers, and occupational therapists working with children who would benefit. The tool is free, works on any device with a keyboard, and was built by a parent who needed it to exist.

There is something we did not fully anticipate when we started building TypeTown, which is how much of the learning challenge is emotional rather than technical.

A child who finds handwriting difficult because of Dyspraxia, dyslexia, or another developmental difference does not simply need more practice. They need to feel, first and most importantly, that they can do it. That their effort produces something worthwhile. That the tool they are using is on their side rather than measuring their failures.

Most typing tools are built around error correction. You type something wrong and the tool tells you so. That feedback is important for learning, but it is not the right starting point for a child who already associates writing tasks with difficulty and discouragement.

TypeTown was designed the other way around. The town builds first. The child experiences competence before they encounter correction. Progress is visible, immediate, and theirs. The reward for sitting down and typing is not a grade or a metric. It is a town that is bigger now than it was before they started.

That ordering was deliberate and it came from watching a real child respond to it. It is a small design decision in one sense. In terms of what it does to a child's willingness to keep coming back, it is not small at all.

TypeTown started with a Dyspraxia diagnosis and a recommendation from an occupational therapist to practise typing regularly as an alternative route to written communication.

We went looking for a tool that would make that practice something a primary school child would actually want to do. Not something that felt like more homework. Not another encounter with a system built around correction rather than encouragement. Something that felt like a game, because anything that felt like work would be abandoned within a week.

We could not find it. The typing tools available were functional but joyless. They did the job technically but gave a child with an already difficult relationship with writing no particular reason to come back.

So we built TypeTown. The mechanic is simple and it was chosen deliberately: you type, and a town grows. Every word typed adds something visible to the world on screen. Progress is immediate, cumulative, and the child's own. The reward for effort is not a correct answer or a score. It is something that exists now that did not exist before.

It is live and free at typetown.co.uk. We would love to hear from parents, teachers, SEN coordinators, and occupational therapists who work with children who might benefit.

People ask us why we built BrandBot Studio when there are already dozens of AI marketing tools available. It is a fair question and it deserves an honest answer.

We built it because we spent two years testing what existed and finding the same gap every time. The tools were getting better and better at producing content. They were not getting any better at strategy. And strategy, the decisions made before any content is produced, is where most marketing succeeds or fails.

We have spent twenty years making those decisions for clients in health, social care, charities, and professional services. We understand what the right questions are before a campaign brief is written. We understand what audience assumptions are worth challenging and which ones are solid. We understand the difference between a marketing approach that will build trust over time and one that will produce short-term metrics at the expense of long-term credibility.

BrandBot Studio is our attempt to put that knowledge into a form that organisations can access without commissioning us directly. It is not trying to replace the strategic thinking. It is trying to make better strategic thinking more accessible to the organisations that need it most.

Beta access is open at brandbotstudio.com and we would love to hear from you.

In seven years of working with charities, one of the things that strikes us most consistently is the gap between the quality of the work these organisations do and the quality of the strategic support they have access to for communicating it.

Large charities with significant income can commission senior marketing consultants, run brand workshops, and invest in the strategic thinking that shapes their communications over years. Small charities with two staff and a volunteer board cannot. They do their best with what they have, which is usually one person juggling communications with everything else, making decisions in twenty-minute windows between other responsibilities.

BrandBot Studio was built, in part, to close that gap. An AI marketing assistant that draws on twenty years of sector-specific strategic experience to help organisations think more clearly about their marketing, without requiring a consultancy budget or a dedicated in-house strategist.

It is not a replacement for good human judgment. Nothing is. But it can make the kind of strategic thinking that is usually only available to well-resourced organisations accessible to the ones doing the most important work with the least resource.

We tested the AI marketing tools. Most of them, over two years, with genuine intent to use them seriously in our agency work and in the products we have been building alongside it.

Our honest assessment: technically impressive, strategically thin.

They are excellent at producing content. They can generate a week of social posts, draft an email sequence, suggest ad copy variations, and reformat long-form content into shorter pieces. All of that is genuinely useful and genuinely time-saving.

What they cannot do is help you think. They cannot help you work out whether your campaign strategy is actually sound before you commit budget to it. They cannot tell you whether your audience assumptions are correct, whether your message will land with the people you are trying to reach, or whether the approach you are planning is the right one for this organisation at this moment.

That gap, between content production and strategic thinking, is exactly where BrandBot Studio was built to sit. It draws on twenty years of sector-specific marketing experience to ask the right questions at the right moment. It is not trying to compete with the content production tools. It is trying to make the decisions that happen before any content is written considerably better.

Beta access is open at brandbotstudio.com. We would love to hear from you if this is a gap you recognise.

BrandBot Studio is our AI marketing assistant, and it is not what you might expect from an AI marketing tool.

Most of what is available in the market right now is built to produce content quickly. The pitch is speed: generate a week of social posts in minutes, draft an email campaign in seconds, fill your content calendar without lifting a finger. And those tools do that thing well. The problem is that speed of production is not the bottleneck for most organisations struggling with their marketing.

The bottleneck is strategy. Working out what you are actually trying to achieve. Understanding who the audience is and what they genuinely need to hear. Making the decisions about channel, message, and framing that determine whether any content you produce will land or be ignored.

BrandBot Studio was built to address that layer. It draws on twenty years of real strategic marketing experience in health, social care, charities, and professional services. It does not produce generic outputs. It asks the right questions, helps you think through the strategic decisions that matter most, and supports you in building marketing that holds up.

It is not a content factory. It is a thinking tool. Beta access is open now at brandbotstudio.com

We have made some deliberate choices about how to run Blue Cactus Digital, and we want to be open about them.

We are a Living Wage employer. Not because it is a badge that looks good in a pitch, but because the people doing this work deserve to be paid fairly for it. We hold the Clean Creatives pledge, which means we do not take on contracts with organisations driving fossil fuel use. Our values have to extend to who we work with, not just how we work. And we invest two percent of our annual turnover into staff training every year, because the quality of the work depends entirely on the quality of the people producing it.

We also keep our client list deliberately small. We work with a limited number of organisations at any one time so that every client gets genuine attention rather than a share of attention stretched across too many accounts. That is not the most commercially efficient way to run an agency. It is the way that produces the best work.

The result is a set of long-term relationships we are genuinely proud of. Rethink Partners. The Wren Project. Reset Connect. Thorpe Hall School. Organisations we have been alongside for years rather than quarters.

If those values sound familiar, we would love to talk. bluecactus.digital

At Blue Cactus Digital we work across digital marketing strategy, branding, content, paid media, social media management, website development, award entries, and internal communications.

The breadth is deliberate. The organisations we work with, in health and social care, charities, education, and professional services, need marketing that holds together across all of those disciplines. A rebrand that is not reflected in the website does not work. A content strategy unsupported by paid media does not scale. An external communications plan that has not brought internal stakeholders with it will fall apart the moment it meets reality.

We are not a specialist in one channel who has added others to grow the business. We are a genuinely strategic agency that works across the full marketing mix because that is what our clients need.

Long-standing clients include Rethink Partners, Reset Connect, The Wren Project, Thorpe Hall School, Care City, and Connected Homecare. Different sectors, different scales, different challenges. One consistent thing: they needed marketing that joined up.
