Smartphones.

I think they should be renamed as Dumbphones. The Orange buffoon would be proud to tell you there is a ‘B’ in dumb. I also think there is a bee in his cranium and it is buzzing around in the space that should hold a brain. I think that for many people doomscrolling has become an addiction, a new sort of Mental Health issue....

More reflections in Barbarossa.

People, places, beliefs. Luke is my oldest friend. We met aged 11 when we started secondary school, though it wasn’t until we found ourselves in the same ‘A’ level Maths class that we became friends. We’ve both just entered our 70th year… I began to wonder about friendships. My secondary school had 2000 boys and I only ever see one of them, though I occasionally chat with my cousin Tony who was three years ahead of me....

The smell sets of a tourettes type reaction and I find myself muttering Tw@ and Cvnt, over and over and over. Why do these eejits think it’s ok to pump out that stench when people are eating?...

Barbarossa - I think of Frederick and Hitler… No duck breast today so I went for Barramundi, as I don’t think I’ve ever had it. Most white fish is very bland and I think that is why it is always served with a sauce of some form. I like to cook Rainbow Trout, Salmon and Kippers. Sometimes Mackerel. I also love pilchards and sardines in tomato sauce… look at me the fish chef!!...

Watching the Dancing Queen and the Daydream Believer. Lovely ladies passing in the night. I cant believe the Daydream Believer is 41 with a teenage son. She looks about twenty! Then again, in my travels I have noticed that Asian women seem to age very slowly until they have a year when they go from looking twenty-something to sixty-something. And it seems to happen overnight....

It feckin stinks!

Phuket. I am sure I will write about this a lot! They legalised Cannabis in Thailand so the place is filling up with pot heads. That takes me back to my youth when I was a big fan of a band called Gong. They had songs about Pothead Pixies, Flying Teapots and Submarine Captain Capricorn. It was crazy music, filled with bizarre riffs, saxophones and funny sayings....

So there goes 8 weeks of summer! 8 weeks in the same hotel - Sanur Seaview Hotel, Sanur, Denprasar, Bali. After 2 weeks I thought I'd made a mistake, as most of the restaurants and bars along the nearby beach were closed by 9.30 pm. Then I walked off the other way and discovered Santorini Restaurant, Paloma Resto and Barbarossa. …...

More recollections; why do the evenings in Bali make me reminisce? Photo by Stephen Leonardi on Pexels.com I am back at the Paloma bar and the act are playing the classic Rolling Stones song Angie. A flood of memories. Only 16 and just moved into the sixth form and stated going to the pub, not that it was legal. I think many of the pub staff were just very relaxed about things and were more concerned with older pissheads who wanted to cause trouble....
