Why can things on your website suddenly stop working?

Has something which worked correctly now started to do strange things… all by itself?

😕 Why is that? What happened?

There are reasons why web pages, features, functions, and even entire sections of a website can stop working properly, include:

🔹Coding errors.
🔹Incompatibility with new features.
🔹Incompatibility due to recent 3rd party plug-in changes.
🔹Styling and layout dependencies.
🔹Deleted or renamed pages and files.
🔹Layout changes on desktop displays which have messed up the mobile display.
🔹Changes to customer journeys for certain types of users which have had an unintentional impact on experiences for other types of user.
🔹Changes to platforms, browser versions, operating systems, and other things outside of our control.
🔹A small typo in your .htaccess file could cause an unwanted redirect, or could potentially crash the site!

Even websites which are working fine might have room for improvement, whether it be in terms of speed, display issues on some devices, missing or oversize images, broken links, and so on.

Worryingly, many websites have problems that their owners are completely unaware of. That could apply to you without you realising it, and those unknown problems could be frustrating visitors, losing you businesses and turning away potential customers who might never return!
