Last week, we tackled The Escape House - St Neots as a bit of end-of-year fun - a 90-minute fully immersive escape room experience newly opened in St Neots.

Don't worry; this isn't a post about what an escape room taught us about marketing, but teamwork and collocation were undoubtedly on show in spades!

We absolutely loved having a go...and got out in the nick of time. It was also fabulous to learn more about the two professional film stuntmen who have brought the concept to our town.

Who will get a YES? Cambridgeshire public asked to help choose the line-up of a popular arts programme.

Six years ago, The Library Presents - an affordable arts programme - launched in Cambridgeshire libraries thanks to £570,826 of funding and support from Arts Council England. Since then over 30,000 have enjoyed over 900+ hours of entertainment.

One of the unique features of the programme is that the public helps to choose who they would like to see on the line-up. 40 performers have been included on the Spring shortlist. It's now up to the great Cambridgeshire public to pick their favourites!

Choose from live music and theatre, puppetry and circus performances, dance and storytelling. There is something for all tastes and all ages.

Make your selection by Friday 9 February either online or at participating libraries (including St Neots!).

✅ Who would you choose?

Keystone has worked with the team at Cambridgeshire County Council on comms support for this programme since 2023.

Is storytelling one of your marketing tools?

Here's a quick example of how and why it works...

Three years ago the Environment Agency approached us with a desire to create a more interesting and colourful version of their Annual Fisheries Report – a data-heavy report detailing the impact of income raised from fishing licence sales.

Every story needs a hook* and with fishing licence holders designated as our primary audience, we knew we had to reel* them in with stories that would resonate with their love of fishing.

For example, for anglers, more fish in the water = greater odds of making a catch. So we highlighted how they, as licence-holders, had helped restock over 455,000 fish into rivers and stillwaters in 2022-23.

The art of storytelling is as old as time. Simply spend a little time figuring out who your main audience is and what will make them sit up and listen and away you go!

It’s been a pleasure working with the Environment Agency alongside SladeDesign to create this report - thank you for the oppor-tuna-ty*.

🐟*all puns are fully intentional and without apology!

Our annual fisheries report for 2022/2023 is now out!

Between 1 April 2022 and 31 March 2023, we sold over 900,000 fishing licences to anglers – generating nearly £21m in income.

Fishing licence income is vital to the work of the EA, enabling us to reinvest into activities including incident response, enforcement action and habitat improvements to support fisheries.

Over the last year, licence income directly funded over 250 projects to improve fishing and fisheries and allowed us to work with over 1000 delivery partners to:

🐟 Improve fish stocks and habitats
🎣 Provide new facilities for anglers
✅ Make fisheries more accessible

Did you spot that two towns and one village in have been named by Muddy Stilettos as some of the best places to live in England and Cambridgeshire for 2024?

We were over the moon to see that was one of the communities mentioned; particularly for its "lovely riverside setting" - as it took us right back to memories of our project at Godmanchester Mill Steps.

We led stakeholder and community engagement for the £407k ecological project in Godmanchester, working with Huntingdonshire District Council Environment Agency National Highways +Godmanchester Town Council +Godmanchester in Bloom +Godmanchester Community Liaison Group

The boomerang effect is quite common in our line of work. By setting our clients up with a solid comms framework, alongside the right messaging and engagement tools, we naturally remove ourselves from the party. While giving a client the tools and independence to carry on without us can be a very satisfying feeling, we also LOVE returning to a former project... Like this one!

We helped bring to life when it was a new programme idea developed by the team at Business & IP Centre Cambridgeshire and Peterborough back in 2021. Now entering its third year, with a prize pot that has more than tripled in size to a whopping £75,000, we're so pleased to be involved again. Having already supported nearly 200 local businesses so far, we want to help more people than ever hear about it.

So please do share details about this programme with everyone in your network who would JUMP at the chance to win a grant of up to £10k to help their new business take flight 🚀

Hot on the heels of a sell-out summer season, The Library Presents is back this quarter with a 10-week long season of 52 events, full of fun and fantasy.

And that means we've kicked off the comms! 💥

We love working with the TLP team at Cambridgeshire County Council - injecting our well-regarded marketing skillset and community engagement expertise into the communications programme.

Earlier this month, we celebrated our 10th anniversary and are super proud of the impact we've made and the lovely people we've met along the way.

Hello, we’re Keystone.

Keystone is a trusted marketing consultancy – transforming marketing impact and engagement. We’re based in St Neots near Cambridge - and we help organisations build closer relationships with their all-important audiences; developing strategy, campaigns and content that engage audiences and inspire action. Thanks for stopping by :-)

We’re not a traditional marketing agency rolling out marketing materials. We place strategy and bigger picture thinking at the heart of our work. Helping organisations to understand their vision, identify challenges and assess their current position is our happy place. When you work with us you can expect to receive a beautifully balanced Keystone blend of strategic thinking and marketing experience. Our priority is to create marketing campaigns and projects that deliver results for you.

Across the country, we support B2B’s in multiple sectors, and offer support to community-focussed organisations such as membership bodies, local councils and not for profits – big and small.

We’re the go-to team for organisations that know their marketing and community engagement strategies aren’t up to scratch, or are limited by what they can achieve on their own. Our work also beautifully dovetails into marketing, brand and web development agencies too – injecting the Keystone approach to strategic support and messaging into their client projects.
