Trends give me the “ick” and so does another birthday! so naturally I’ve combined two for my birthday reel 😂🍾🎂

The champagne trend? 🫷🏼STOP IT 😂 I don’t waste fizz, I drink like 3-4 times a year on special occasions and if its my birthday, that champagne is going in a glass where it belongs and not shooting up in the air 🥂

…give me a cake with candles and some icing sugar and now I feel like I’m a fire performer 🔥 maybe I could add that to my talent list for creative content!

I’m not one for making a big fuss about my birthday but I couldn’t resist making a reel to celebrate it this year. Another year older and I’m still still having far too many crazy ideas and still refusing to behave how people think I should be 😂

It’s my birthday tomorrow but I’m going to enjoy the bubbles and cake on my trip away in a hidden local gem 🎂🥂

Last week I had a conversation that made me stop and think 💭 they asked me why I smiled when they pointed out that I don’t have much social proof of myself actually being out on shoots…

I’ve never been particularly good at shouting about my own wins.
I’d much rather put the spotlight on my clients feed and celebrate behind the scenes than posting a “look what I did” post.

When things get busy in my schedule, I just strap in and quietly get on with it 🤷‍♀️

I realised something from that conversation, that I tell my clients to post everything! Everything is content and if I want people to understand what I actually do, they need to see it.

Not just the polished content sitting on my clients feeds.

They need to see me arriving with a car full of props, trying all the angles, directing a shot, having a mid morning crisis because something isn’t charged up for work, celebrating when we finally nail the shot and occasionally wondering why I’m still up at 2am 😂

So this season, I’m changing that and probably with a worrying amount of coffee in my veins, all whilst I film myself inbetween actual work 🫠👏

I’m smiling because in theory I’ve made myself a client and it’s about to get wild with how much this woman wants to film 🫢

My first wedding content shoot and I couldn’t have asked for any more perfect then this 👏 Normanton Church, Rutland Water

The most beautiful couple, all their favourite people and the weather that decided to create some goosebumps not just from the wind chill but with all the beautiful moments it created 🤍

The bride’s veil and dress catching in the wind, lots of movement, everyone laughing at just how blustery it was, friends and family coming together with lots of hugs and embraces.

It’s those little moments happening naturally without anyone really noticing they were being captured and that is what I loved most!

I’d been feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement about this shoot. Weddings are such a huge privilege to be part of, and I wanted to capture the day as it really felt.

Not just the big moments, but the laughs, the glances, the movement and all those little in between moments that you might not even realise are happening at the time.

People being themselves and telling the story of a day through the moments that naturally unfold.

I honestly couldn’t be more grateful that I got to be there watching this beautiful couple tie the knot 👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻‍♂️

When I get my hair done, it means BUSINESS 👏🏼💇🏼‍♀️ a new hairstyle usually means a new chapter and suddenly I’m ready to rebrand my entire life 😂 this one feels particularly well timed…

There’s actually quite a lot happening behind the scenes at the moment. New projects, both personal and business, things I’m really excited about but not quite ready to share yet 👀

AND with Social Media with Zoe coming up to TWO YEARS, things have naturally started to evolve. My work is changing, I’m doing more events, more personalised content and more creative projects that let me really get stuck into the people and stories behind a business.

So maybe this was the perfect time for a little change on the outside too. New hair 👏 New projects & a New chapter!

The same girl who gets wildly excited about a good content idea and the urge to rebrand absolutely everything has already arrived 😂

I absolutely LOVE a bargain!! 💁🏼‍♀️🩷 💸 and Vinted has done it again! I’ve been thinking about ordering one of these and I completely forgot about this parcel being on its way to me.

It was a surprise for both you and me on this occasion 😂 inbox it with me and see if you can literally hear the penny drop when I suddenly realise what’s inside!

I’m super happy with this find and managed to bag a piece of equipment for third of the price and it’s in almost new condition. 🤗

Excuse me while I wheel every tripod I own around the house for the remaining of the day 😂

🌝🌓🌞 solar eclipse = completed it! We had a chippy tea down at eyebrooke and spent the few hours relaxing watching the countryside come to a slow hazy stop for a moment.

The birds 🦢 were confused for an hour, plenty of visitors down there to watch the eclipse and it just felt very special.

It’s moments like these that make you realise we’re all just on a flying rock speeding through space and actually we’re just a very teeny tiny part of it all.

This is your reminder to take small snippets in special moments, instead of long footage and enjoy the atsmopshere then stitch it altogether and post without overthinking 👏💕

I hope you all enjoyed the solar eclipse and if you’ve been around long enough to remember the one in the 90s congrats on the second one!! How incredible is that!!! 🩷

Yeah 👍🏼 so when you say show your creative process 🥹🫣 just imagine this because I’m like a gremlin. In the dark, curtains drawn, fan on, music on (which Alexa get told to stop a millions times in the day so I can play back footage) no makeup and hair up, sippy cup to stay hydrated and alive.

I go into a creative hole and you won’t get any conversation with me because I’ll be talking to myself out loud 😂

But this is genuinely what I’m like working at home in the creative process, you’ll probably see me more put together and getting excited to film the content we spoke about 🤗

I’m either in presentable shoot mode or gremlin creative mode there is no in-between I’m afraid 😂😂😂 please tell me I’m not the only one like this.

It’s another update on Instagram and I feel like this new feature might just be… a little useless 👀

Instagram rolled out another update recently and if you’ve noticed in your DM’s a stack of images off to the side, then this is Instants.

Basically a way for you to take “in the moment, on the go, not from the camera roll, quick unedited unplanned snaps” for friends to view on a “one-time-only-view” and they expire just like stories in 24hours.

You can also download the app for Instants but I’m going to be completely transparent… I just think it’s a little pointless.

For personal accounts though it’s a WIN! Messy, authentic snaps without the pressure to post it publicly but for businesses……

Will it help with reach? no not really
Will it help get you discovered? Nope
Will it bring in new customers? Unlikely
Will it grow your audience? No

Could it help with community building? Maybe, but if you’re already using stories then it’s probably going to achieve the same thing.

If you’re fed up with the stack of images being there in the DM’s and just want to remove it for a while then YOU CAN! 👌🏼
I show you in this reel how to switch them off and if you fancy seeing them again you can just toggle it back on.

I do genuinely want to know your opinions though, are you using instants? Will you use it long term? Is it part of your community building strategy?

For now though, I’ve switched instants off. 🤳
I’ll be using stories speak to followers instead.

Not every creative idea is a banger! 😌 I filmed this quick test clip to check the angle and visual look before getting my client to repeat it… and within all of 2 seconds I knew this idea was getting SCRAPPED 👉🏼🗑️

The angle: Unflattering
The positioning: Busy high street
RED FLAG: unsuspecting pedestrians going about their day and then becoming background actors and side eyeballing the phone on the floor 😂👀

This is exactly why experimenting with different angles and positioning matters because even when you create content not every idea works out the way you imagined in your head.

Sometimes the super cool creative idea ends up looking like a complete mess or not on brand 🎥

Test ideas, play around, experiment and scrap the bad ones, move onto the next. 👏

Content shoots with me should never feel like a Netflix casting call 🎥😌 they’re relaxed and we work to your comfort level.

The second the tripod goes up you know I’ve already planned the transitions, assigned the roles, found the best lighting and deciding if you’ll be full shot, mid shot, long shot, close up or none of these and it’s just the voiceover for a video. 🤗

One minute you’re nervous and the next you’re fully committed to the filming, the storyline and asking to “just do one more take” 😂 I love doing more than one take or even a few trial runs.

My favourite part of shoot days is watching people go from “No I’m not being on camera today” to asking if they could be on the video… then absolutely nailing it by the end. 👌🏼
