Gili’s Legacy 🐾

Earlier this year, our founders, Lee and Kayleigh had to say goodbye to Gili, their beautiful rescue dog and the Kakadu canine, after a short but fierce battle with lymphoma.

They said, "It broke our hearts and turned our world upside down.

Gili joined the Kakadu family in 2018 from Animal Helpline Dog Rescue, and since losing her, we’ve been channelling our love into the place that brought her to us—spending weekends walking, training and supporting the incredible dogs still waiting for their forever homes.

Some have no backstory, so we’ve been taking them on day trips and overnighters to help figure out what they’re like outside the shelter—giving them the best chance at finding the right match.

It’s been emotional, healing, and one of the most rewarding things we’ve done. We’re calling it Gili’s legacy. 💛"

Marketing: The Big Picture

Whilst we love remote working at Kakadu Creative, some things are just better in person—like mapping out a full-scale marketing strategy.

Last week, we got in the room with Liz and Jamie from to do exactly that. They’ve got big goals, and we’re here to help them make it happen.

We had a great first focus group session last night in , gaining valuable insights from local residents in relation to the new project we’re working on with the team at and

Tonight we have our online focus group and tomorrow will be our in-person, business oriented focus group. If you haven’t signed up yet and you live or work in the Peterborough area please do come along to either event to help shape this new project.

We want you to have your say on a new project aiming to help create a more sustainable, community-led Peterborough in conjunction with PECT - Creating Sustainable Places.

We're inviting local residents and business owners to join upcoming focus groups to give your insight and help develop the look and feel of a new sustainability project in the city.

Food and drinks will be provided as a thank you for your contributions and this event is family-friendly. We will be running an activity for children in the same space.

You don't need to have any prior knowledge on sustainability–just an open mind and willing to share your opinions.

It gives us great pleasure to let you know that the Bring It Back project we worked on in collaboration with PECT, Chroma Marketing and Beach Media is a finalist in the Circular Economy Project of the Year category at the UK Green Business Awards 2024.

The project is in the running alongside other great projects including Canary Wharf Group's Recycled Aggregate, Decathlon's Revolutionizing Retail, In2tec Ltd's ReUSE and ReCYCLE project, Lombard Technology's Device-As-A-Service, Plastic Energy's Chemical recycling technology, Screwfix's Refurb by Screwfix, Silverlake's Automotive Recycling, apetito and Wiltshire Farm Food's Project Boomerang and Xampla's Xampla x ELEMIS project.

The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony and dinner on the evening of Wednesday the 12th of June so we have a bit of time to wait to see if we've won.

But, win or lose, it still feels great for the project to have been recognised by the Business Green judges and have got to the final.

As part of the new year, we’ve been taking some time to look back on last year and reflect on everything that we achieved.

Having collectively spent the majority of December under a duvet fighting off a nasty bug (Covid, probably), we ended the year with a faint groan rather than a bang. But in reality, there was a lot to be proud of and grateful for.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 We expanded the team and our services so we can now support our clients with not just brand, design and web, but also marketing strategy and implementation, SEO, PPC and social media management, helping you to do more of the awesome work you do, increase your impact and grow.

And on top of that, we did a bunch more stuff in 2023. Let’s have a little look at some of the highlights, shall we?

🌿 We finally gave our green website hosting service its own brand identity and website. Say hello to , a loooong overdue sister company to Kakadu Creative.

🍻 We brought People Planet Pint to Peterborough to help connect and engage more people in the world of sustainability.

😁 We worked with some awesome new clients in the arts, charity, sustainability and health space.

💚 We met some fantastic new people and expanded our network of impact-led business owners.

☺️ Our co-founder, Kayleigh, was nominated as a Better Business Pioneer.

✊ We used our business's voice to stand up for a fairer and more ethical world through a range of activism activities, including being part of The Big One with Business Declares and being part of the launch of the Business Without Blood Sport pledge at the Houses of Parliament.

🤑 And we did it all with a cost of living crisis that has massively impacted the creative sector and marketing businesses.

So what will 2024 bring?

Well, that story is yet to be written but we see it as one of balance. As part of that, we're trialling the 4-day work week this year. So far it's been great, and we're excited to see if we can make it a permanent thing. Stay tuned.
