🌱 Last month was Stress Awareness Month. This year's theme ( ) felt particularly relevant to the way we work at Smith Goodfellow.
Throughout the month, we ran an internal employee engagement campaign focused on small, practical actions that help reduce stress, build resilience, and create a supportive workplace culture. From sharing simple wellbeing tips and encouraging open conversations, to signposting internal policies, benefits and external resources, the emphasis was on personal agency and collective responsibility.
As a Good Employer, certified by the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, staff wellbeing and engagement aren’t just policies on paper. We embed them into how we operate day to day. Our approach includes regular check‑ins, flexible support when life happens, proactive workload management, and access to wellbeing resources, all underpinned by a culture that encourages people to speak up early.
We’re also proud to have achieved an EcoVadis Silver medal, reflecting our broader commitment to responsible, sustainable business practices, including how we support our people.
Whether you're a business working towards an accreditation or an individual wanting to make a positive impact on the world around you, awareness days or months can be timely reminders that positive change doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful. When we invest in wellbeing and engagement, the impact ripples outward. This in turn can help to improve retention, productivity, and long‑term resilience (ie. the business case for investing in the wellbeing of your team, if you need it).
Because real change starts with everyday actions. And, in our experience, being a good employer is always worth it.
