Happy Ramadan to those celebrating 🕌
----- What is Ramadan? 🌙 -----
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim calendar, stands as one of the most sacred times for Muslims. During this month, Muslims observe a strict fast from dawn until sunset, preceded by an early morning meal known as suhoor or sehri.
Fasting is a private act of worship that fosters closeness to God, serves as a form of spiritual discipline, and provides a means to empathise with those less fortunate. During the fasting day, all believers equally face hunger and thirst, which makes the fortunate ones appreciate their blessings and think of those less fortunate than them.
In Ramadan, Muslims are encouraged to give more in charity and often spend extended hours praying in mosques. The Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, with each month beginning upon the sighting of the new crescent moon and lasting either 29 or 30 days.
Certain individuals are exempt from fasting, including those experiencing illness, travel, pregnancy, breastfeeding, menstruation, extreme old age, children, and those with health conditions that could worsen by fasting. Moreover, it's crucial to note that in cases of health emergencies, Muslims are permitted to break their fast.
