Happy Friday! And happy nearly halloween as well πŸŽƒ

I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite branded visual ads I've spotted with the spooky feels.

Which is your favourite?

Face to face or online? Is there a difference when connecting and building relationships?

I’ve now been to a few real networking events, and had a couple of face to face business meetings since covid restrictions were lifted.

The conversation often comes up about the difference in real or online meetings. Can you still build strong relationships on zoom or teams?

Personally, I think you can. But I also think that seeing someone in the flesh every now and again can help to strengthen it further, and remind you how tall they are, and what shoes they like to wear πŸ˜‰

What do you think?

Why is consistency so important in visual branding?
Because building a connection with your potential customers with your marketing, is so much easier if they recognise your branding.
Think about Costa, and how that certain shade of maroon reminds you of coffee. And how that script typeface reminds you of Coca Cola. If the reader can sense the marketing is from your business before they start reading, you’ve won half the battle.

How is it October already? One of my favourite months of the year, full of apples, and pumpkins and leaves... but still a bit warm and hazy and beautiful sunsets ... getting colder as the month progresses.

So it's FFFFriday! So let's talk about Marmite...

and their latest brand extension, chilli-infused Dynamite Marmite. 🌢🌢🌢

So would you buy it?

I'm not sure it's my kinda thing, but nowhere near as offensive as the Marmite-flavoured hot-cross buns I saw in M&S yesterday! 😳

But whatever you think of this combination, you've got to admire Marmite's advertising.

The billboard comes from adam&eveDDB

Just remember... if you do like the sound of it, Dynamite Marmite is a limited edition... so get out there and find it now!

Happy Monday and happy new year!

Yes, I know its already the 4th Jan, but let's face it... it all really starts today πŸ˜‰

I chose snowdrops because they are fresh and new in January. And that's what this year is so far, fresh and new.

I'm not expecting that this year is going to be amazing and perfect. Especially with tiers in place and with school closures and lockdown possibilities looming.

But let's face it 2021, you don't have to try very hard to be better than 2020 do you?

Come on 2021, you have one job... be better than 2020... you can do this πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

It’s probably time to sign off and say Merry Christmas to you all. I could start all the chat about what a year 2020 has been, and how Christmas won’t be the same. But I feel like it’s all been said already, and much better than I can. So I just want to wish you all the best and most relaxed time you can have, with plenty of food and Xmas movies.

I have my own version of Black Friday...

(I don't actually do Black Friday, in fact it's the only day in November where I purposefully don't buy anything online)

So I thought I'd throw back to some classic visual print ads for the most famous black stuff Guinness, instead.

The first two are related to 2020 lockdown, but the rest are proud sporting and irish related visual ads... which are pretty clever.

Enjoy

A bit of Guerilla marketing this week from Sony....

Sony has taken over Oxford Circus Tube Station in London to mark the launch of the PS5 in the UK.

The marketing stunt will last for 48 hours at Oxford Circus, and sees the Tube station rebranded with PlayStation shapes throughout.

I'm assuming that as we're in November, it's ok to use the C word? πŸŒ²πŸŽ„πŸŒ²

I'm loving this simple idea from Primark.
Too much of the wrapping paper we use at Christmas is not recyclable. So much of it is thrown away.

So, this is a great, cheap alternative, if you are already buying stuff from Primark.

Although, I'm not entirely sure how this works during November in Lockdown πŸ€”πŸ€”

What do you think? Should all shops be doing this?

Since 2020 seems to be scary enough without Halloween...

I thought I’d share some of my favourite visual creative ads from previous years.

I think the Coca Cola / Pepsi ad is a favourite!

I thought I'd just leave this here...

It's a great example of the power of type hierarchy.

As it's impossible to read everything at the same time, the eye looks for a natural order to read information...
.. and it's not always chronological.

What did you read first?
