The evolution of “Greed.” 🐍🎨

Looking back, I realized that being on antidepressants to manage endometriosis pain subtly influenced my early creative choices, leading to a palette that didn’t match my internal truth. “Ego” is part of a powerful, deeply personal trilogy exploring the intersection of chronic illness, mental health, and the external emotional influences that shape us. Created during a period of intense personal struggle while managing severe endometriosis pain, this artwork captures the fragile balance between internal resilience and overwhelming vulnerability.

The creation of “Ego” became a multi-year journey of transformation. For a long time, I was never happy with the piece, constantly changing the colours in a process that stretched out over years. Looking back, this creative unrest was deeply tied to my medical journey—specifically, taking antidepressants to manage my endo pain and the subsequent foggy process of coming off them. As my mind cleared from the chemical fog of chronic pain management, the artwork evolved with me.

Visually, the piece acts as a processing of deep sensitivity to others’ emotions, specifically how the weight of external negative behaviors can manifest within our minds. Drawing inspiration from Buddhist mindfulness practices, the composition addresses the challenging journey of detaching from negative emotional cycles.

Protecting My Art, My Way

✨For the past few years, Chorlton Arts Festival has been an amazing space for my evolution as an artist. But as my work has grown, so have the challenges.

My canvases are massive and take years of meticulous work to finish. Because of that, I’ve never had the confidence to leave them unattended in group shows—the anxiety of them getting damaged is just too high.Interestingly, I’ve faced a lot of pressure from other artists who think I treat my art with too much respect.

They tell me it’s “just art,” that I should just leave it in a room alone because everyone else does it, and that I’m overthinking it. On top of that, there’s always judgment around using AI in my process.But I believe self-worth means rising above what other people think is the “correct” way to do things.

This installation at is my response. Instead of risking my original years-long canvases, I blended my fine art prints with my graphic and pattern design skills to create an immersive, patterned space. Using prints gave me the confidence to walk away and leave the room without a shred of stress, while still showcasing my authentic work.

Never apologize for protecting what you create.

Do what you believe in, build your own confidence, and never let anyone diminish your self-worth.

My work was never meant to be “twee.” It just drifted that way for a moment when I added a bird and a boat.

Now, I’m working in a state of praxis—letting the paint go where it actually wants to go. Right now, it wants to be lonely. It’s that sparkly, melancholy comedown after the club, when you’re finally alone and the depression creeps back in.

For me, it’s a reminder of being a teenager—sad, young, and poor. But maybe for you, it feels like something else.
