I used to really enjoy drawing and painting both at school and at home. Graphic Design has been my way of life since 1999, starting at New College which is based in County Durham where I started to learn the aspects of Design. At New College I earned my National Diploma in 2001 and then went on to study at Newcastle College to earn my Higher National Diploma which was achieved in 2003. I really en
joyed my time at college but after I graduated I knew that is when the hard work would start. I knew it was going to be difficult to find work after leaving college due to the simple fact that graduating students do not have the required experience which is needed by employers. Luckily I found work pretty quickly and managed to get on the design ladder, My first job was based at Byker in Newcastle at a printers called Astro Print. I started working there in 2003 and have been in full time work ever since. As I moved up the ladder in 2004 I worked for a company called Moments Design who were also based in Newcastle, here I had more freedom to create my own designs, which is why I left Astro to join the Moments Design team. Then in 2005 I found work closer to home in Washington at Parkdale Press, which are part of the NEMC Group. I then found myself working two part-time jobs, at the Auto Trader, which was based in Gateshead, and NRG Design based in Sunderland. I enjoyed both jobs and learned more design skills along the way but obviously wanted a full time job. My design skills by now where very strong and had over three years experience, then in 2006 I started working for my current employers Edward Thompson. They are based right next to the Stadium of Light in Sunderland and have been in business since the 1800's and are well known all around the world. My role at Edward Thompson is very enjoyable, here I design Posters, Leaflets, Scratch cards, Brochures, Logo's and much more! Edward Thompson is heavily linked with the Gaming Industry and has been for many years. Edward Thompson work with big names such as Gala, Mecca, Tombola, and Beacon Bingo to name a few. In December 2009 I contacted 'Home Learning College' and asked for information about their Dreamweaver & Flash CS4 course, I was wanting to update and improve my web design skills which is badly needed if you are looking to improve as a designer. It was the best thing I have ever done and was really enjoyable. I am now fully qualified in every aspect of design and is always looking for freelance work no matter how big or small the job maybe. I'm also a dance music DJ, I have created my own website which has over 40 hours of available dance music to download. Simply click on the dj link below for details and see what's available.
