🏅 Medal Monday
Yesterday I completed my second Great North Run in 2:16:20, taking almost 9 minutes off my time from last year.
My first GNR was a very different experience. I had recently been diagnosed with a form of osteoarthritis and had a flare up just two weeks before race day, so getting around in 2:25 felt like an achievement in itself.
Since then, I’ve undergone physiotherapy to help me get back running and understand the root cause of what was triggering my flare ups.
This year, I finally felt excited to be on that start line again.
The plan was to enjoy the atmosphere, run what I could and hopefully finish in under 2:15. I unfortunately hit a wall after halfway and missed that target by just 1 minute 20, but I’m still really happy with the progress from last year.
Another Great North Run done, and hopefully not my last… my name is already in the ballot for next year 👀🏃🏽♀️🔥
