I'm joining the rant...
PLEASE stop with the AI-generated posters, leaflets and graphics.

Aaaaaaarrrrrggghhhh. It’s flooding EVERYTHING.
And before anyone comes for me… I use AI. ALL. THE. TIME.

Ideas, research, inspiration, design direction, minute and action taking and getting my thoughts together when I'm having constant brain farts!

I’ll even use it to mock up ideas for graphics but then create it myself in Canva and I like how its helping me learn.

So much AI-generated creative looks exactly the same. You're loosing what's unique about you.

Same imagery, fonts, layouts and same awful bloody cartoon character people!

AI is an incredible tool but pleaseeeee don't let it replace your personality.
Your brand should still look like YOUR brand.

Be a bit wonky. Be different. Be recognisable. Be human.

Just please stop making everything look the bloody same.

4 hours. £0 billed. And I'm absolutely fine with that.

I spent just over four hours putting together a proposal for a potential new client.

Could I have spent less time on it? Yep. Was any of that time billable? Nope.

But for me, putting together a proposal isn't just about sending over a price and a list of services.

I want to spend some time understanding your business, what you're already doing, where you might need some help and, importantly, whether I actually think I'm the right person to help you.

Of course, I won't know your business inside out at that stage. That comes with working together.

But what I send you is a first impression of how I work.

I want you to see that I've thought about your business. That I've considered what we could do together. And that I'm genuinely interested in helping you move things forward.

If we don't end up working together, that's okay. Not every proposal is going to turn into a client.

(Although please don't ghost me... just tell me 😂)

There are definitely parts of freelancing where I protect my time fiercely, because ultimately time is what I'm selling but there are also times when I choose to invest it.

And if I'm asking a business to invest in me, I'm quite happy to invest a little bit in them first. ❤️

Looking back at the last 12 months, I'm incredibly proud of what has been achieved.

But if I'm honest, year one has been the biggest (bar motherhood!) learning curve I've ever experienced.

When I started Manlas Ltd, I had visions of posting every week about all the exciting things I was doing. Sharing client wins, weekly round-ups, helpful marketing tips and documenting the journey of being self-employed.

I genuinely started with all the best intentions.
Then I got a little busy.
▪️ Busy managing client work
▪️ Busy trying to build a business
▪️ Busy being a wife (to be) and mum
▪️ Busy trying to work out how on earth anyone fits everything into the same 24 hours

There were moments where I found myself working just as many hours as I had in the corporate world and questioning why I'd taken the leap in the first place.

There were opportunities to support larger businesses too that, on paper, looked brilliant. But they also came with expectations that would have taken away the flexibility I desperately wanted and needed when I started this journey.

So I said no and I'm really glad I did.

Because every time I've stopped and asked myself why I'm doing this, I always come back to the same answer.

I love helping good people grow good businesses.
I love becoming part of a team.
I love solving problems.

And I love creating strategies, writing content, planning launches, building relationships and seeing things start to click into place.

Most importantly, I love having the flexibility to build a business around my life, rather than trying to squeeze my life around my work.

Looking back, it's been a lot.
(Not forgetting the approximately one million spreadsheets I've created and consumed enough coffee to keep Starbucks in business)

But also a lot of support from incredible clients, friends and family who have backed me every step of the way.

And for that, I'm hugely grateful.

Some days it feels like I’ve worn about 12 different hats before lunchtime… strategy, content, events, CRM, emails, ideas and honestly… I love it.

The last few weeks have been busy! New clients onboarded, events in motion, CRM systems being built, comms strategies coming together, campaigns taking shape… all the good stuff.

Sometimes I have no idea whether I'm coming or going but that's marketing life though, isn’t it?
Always spinning plates and no two days ever the same.

The sun’s shining
There’s lots in the pipeline
And some really exciting things coming up…

And I wouldn’t have it any other way 💛

This year has got off to a cracking start 💛

I’ve just started working with a new client who (very honestly) hates social media…
…but also knows it’s where their next customers are coming from.

Enter me 👋

One week later:
👉 47 posts created
👉 ️ Fully approved and scheduled
👉 One less thing for them to think about
👉 ️ And we’ve already seen direct appointment bookings coming through

This is exactly what I love doing! Taking the stress, overwhelm and “I know I should be doing this but I don’t have the headspace” feeling off business owners’ plates.

If social media is something you avoid, overthink or just don’t have time for…
I’ve got you.

Get in 😄
