A Nottinghamshire pub will soon undergo a pricey upgrade that will provide it with an essential feature managers hope to be popular with punters 🍺

National pub chain JD Wetherspoon has had its plans approved for a brand-new beer garden to be set up at The Picture House in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The Fox Street pub, which is fittingly an old cinema, currently has no outside area.

Wetherspoon previously said it intended to invest around £825,000 to give customers outside seating they can use in better weather.

Plans recently approved by Ashfield District Council include a new walled area, packed with dozens of tables, a pergola and festoon lighting, and dotted with greenery.

The land that will be turned into the beer garden is currently undeveloped land and car parking spaces.
