Another advert created on behalf of a business advertising within the new Collector’s Mag version of ATFV - client very happy with the copywriting and the idea to use the hat and statue to match the Indiana Jones on the front cover.

One of the tough things about creative writing is the brutal job of tearing chunks out of your work to meet a word count. I'm writing a page about the Swans' Harry Griffiths for the new ATFV Collectors Mag and whilst I love the piece just as it is, I know it is too text heavy to fit the page. So I'm pruning away...but it is a little sad each time I cut out a phrase or sentence that I really do like.

Ho hum, that's the challenge of writing for a printed A5 magazine again rather than the far less restrictive online fanzine.

Away from writing and producing the new hard copy fanzine, I’ve been experimenting with designing my own stickers.

First up is the Vetch the Dog stickers - the plan is to sell the front and back stickers together for £1.50 with all proceeds donated to Llys Nini.

If this works, it opens up a really fun way to raise some money for various causes - and I’m all for anything that raises money and awareness with minimum effort!

So work is progressing on the ATFV Collectors Item hard copy special but I’ve hit a hitch today.

After years of writing online content, I’m suddenly back with a word count restrictions so the first of five players’ text pages was sent through to the designer today and it’s just too text heavy.

My solution has been a bit brutal - the Five Finest Moments section has now become the Scrapbook Hat-Trick section instead, thus reducing the text.

That’s fine for the four other players’ pages I need to write, but it sadly meant dropping two snippets of Mel Nurse backstory.

It would be a shame to waste them, so I shall post them here where they will continue to exist - just not in the magazine they were penned for.

Cool collaborative effort on this one!

I offered a quarter page advert in the forthcoming charity collectors item Swans fanzine I’m currently writing and producing - and House of Burgers accepted.

However they didn’t have an advert or the capacity to produce one so I said we would do it for them…

…I unleashed and wrote the ad copy, and Ian Simmons Illustration created the eye catching visuals 👀

The client loves the new ad they can use for any number of purposes as well as for the fanzine…and I get a free smashed burger 🍔 🤤

Such a big day today - a game changing meeting that is going to make at least one Pen for Hire project into something really big. And the real pleasing thing about that is the charity I’m going to be devoted proceeds to will benefit immensely! Exciting times!!

It's been a difficult few months with the Pen left broken due to blood pressure being higher than a Trump tariff on China or an island inhabited solely by penguins.

But the Pen has reloaded and I am BACK - starting with this article in the recently published Swansea Oh Swansea fanzine!

And now that I am back in the writing groove it's time to crack on with a new issue of my own fanzine A Touch Far Vetched...

Everything I do with ATFV is centred around raising money for good causes; staging charity events is getting more difficult and less profitable so I'm looking at other ways of raising money.

So here's a little experiment - I'm raising money for former Swans player Jason Bowen through our 'Bang 'Em In For Bowen' campaign ( https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Bang-Em-In-For-Bowen-2 ) and I've taken just the head from our new artwork and created the 'Bowen Badge' on Sticker Mule.

I've ordered a batch of 50 and will sell them, probably through eBay, with all proceeds going towards our fundraising for Jason.

I should receive the merchandise in just over a week and if all is good, they'll be on sale immediately.
