For Darren, large areas of glazing in his modern new-build home brought challenges with heat gain, glare, and privacy.

He needed a shading solution that would address those concerns while complementing the home’s distinctive architecture.

Sunshield UK installed its 150E aluminium louvre system, mounted on a custom-built steel subframe designed to follow the building’s sloping lines. The carefully fitted installation brought solar control and privacy into the design, with a clean finish that suited the property.

Darren described the quality and first-time fit as “extraordinary” and praised the installation team for their knowledge and professionalism.

His project is a useful reminder for anyone planning a self-build: think about how you’ll manage sunlight alongside how you’ll bring it in.

"I love that no two days are ever the same! Seeing the expressions on visitors' faces when they first walk into the Centre never gets old – the word 'WOW!' gets used a lot. I actually started at the NSBRC on a casual basis back in 2015, helping out at shows, and loved every minute. The atmosphere, the team and our exhibitors were all fantastic, so when I was asked to join the team permanently at the end of 2019, it was an easy decision."

I love spending time outdoors with them, whether that's exploring nature or heading off on camping adventures, especially at festivals."
