Web is Beautiful is my personal web design studio, nestled in the beautiful countryside of Cheshire. I believe every business, no matter the size, deserves an online presence that truly stands out. My mission is to craft visually stunning, highly functional websites that capture the essence of your brand and speak to your audience. Let’s work together to create something beautiful – Aleks

Really proud of the work we’ve just wrapped up for The Shed On The Left - Furniture Upcycling - just in time for Christmas!

We created The Chair Man - a playful character and set of illustrations that bring their chair restoration services to life, while keeping things rooted in real craftsmanship.

Alongside that, we built a website designed to properly support their B2B work - helping them speak directly to pubs, cafés and hospitality clients, both online and when they’re out meeting people in person.

A great project with great people, and something they can genuinely build on.

We recently launched the new Applecross Farm website - connecting British families directly with small local farmers who raise heritage breeds naturally and ethically. Applecross Farm pays above market rates to back a fairer, more sustainable future for UK agriculture while keeping quality front and centre.

Fred summed up the build nicely: "Top experience with Aleks - he brought my site to life, sorted every ni**le, and has kept supporting me after launch. If you need a website, Web Is Beautiful gets my full recommendation."

Take a look at the new site: https://www.applecrossfarm.com/

If you believe in better food and better farming, please support their Kickstarter and help the movement grow.

We've just wrapped up a brilliant collaboration with architectural photographer Tom Manley, helping him refresh his online presence. Tom brings 15 years of expertise capturing the soul of architectural projects across Scotland and the UK—from conservation works to bold new builds.

With a background in both architecture and photography, Tom offers a unique eye for detail, finding those special elements that tell each building's story.

Take a peek at the new site we've created together. As Tom says, "It feels good to have the new website up!" We're chuffed with how it showcases his stunning portfolio while making it dead easy for potential clients to reach out.

Fancy seeing some architectural photography that truly captures the essence of design? Pop over to Tom's new site and have a look.

So the Swiss have got themselves a swanky new passport, thanks to the Geneva crowd at RETINAA. It's quite the clever bit of work, blending top-notch security with proper artistic flair. The pages showcase brilliant 3D reliefs, bespoke typefaces, and all sorts of UV bits that light up to map out Switzerland's gorgeous landscapes. There's this whole water theme running through it, showing off all the lakes and rivers the Swiss are blessed with.

Just goes to show how the Swiss really do take their reputation for precision and innovation quite seriously.

It reminds me of when I was queueing at the post office last week, staring at those dreary forms we all have to fill out. Then I noticed how someone had actually put proper thought into the layout, with subtle colour coding and a rather elegant font choice. Even the most mundane things like government paperwork can be transformed when someone cares enough about the design. It's like finding out your accountant is secretly a watercolour artist on weekends - there's beauty hiding in the most unexpected places if you take a moment to look for it! 😆

Can you name a successful book or film without a title?

Ever notice how brilliant designers and business owners can struggle to sell their ideas in a presentation?

Just read a fab piece on LinkedIn about how technical experts often focus on pixels and parameters while missing the crucial storytelling element. It's not enough to make amazing things - you've got to help others see why they matter!

Key take aways? Mastering presentations through three simple steps:

1️⃣ Planning: Know your audience, identify their problem, and focus on ONE key point (the hardest bit for us detail-lovers!)
2️⃣ Writing: Follow the classic story arc - Context, Problem, Insight, Solution, Impact - and don't forget a proper title!
3️⃣ Delivering: Grab attention in the first few minutes with a question, surprising fact, anecdote or by giving away the ending

At the end of the day, success comes down to answering: "What's the ONE point you want to make and why does it matter to your audience?"

Let's be real - cohesive photos matter online. When your whole team plan your visual vibe together, people instantly recognise your brand.

Random, inconsistent pics? Yikes - viewers get confused and bounce. Take a minute to check what you're posting. Does it feel like "you"? Either hire someone to direct your photo style or get everyone on the same page about your visual identity. When your image game is strong and consistent, people notice and remember.

We were on site today, yes on a Sunday, with a photographer, carefully mapping out shots according to a brand vision and content requirements.

A cautionary tale from Sonos: their recent app redesign led to plummeting revenue, widespread user frustration, and ultimately their CEO stepping down.

This highlights a crucial lesson for all designers: no matter how innovative or well-intentioned a redesign may be, it must be thoroughly tested with real users. Your expertise as a designer needs to translate into intuitive experiences for everyday users.

Remember, a beautiful design that users can't navigate is a failed design. Always test, listen to feedback, and design from the customer's perspective.

Spotify swapped out the "Library" button for a new "Create" button, and it’s got people riled up. It seems like they’re pushing their AI playlist feature, but loads of users aren’t happy - it’s thrown off how they’re used to navigating the app. The backlash is a good reminder that focusing on what users actually want is key when making changes.

In the UK, the Equality Act 2010 encourages businesses to make their websites accessible to all, ensuring inclusivity for people with disabilities. Following WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines is a widely recognised way to achieve this.

Without getting too technical, this may include:
- enabling keyboard navigation,
- good colour contrast,
- inclusive design.

Consider not just permanent disabilities but also temporary or situational ones, like recovering from an injury or using a device in bright light.

Creating an accessible site shows your commitment to inclusivity and enhances the user experience for everyone.
