🌷May Highlights at Margaret Allen 🌷

May has been a busy and enjoyable month for our residents, filled with activities, outings, and wonderful opportunities to spend time together.

🍰 We enjoyed baking delicious treats, with residents helping to create some tasty goodies that were enjoyed by all residents

🌳 Taking advantage of the lovely spring weather, we had plenty of fresh air walks around the local park, enjoying the sunshine and beautiful surroundings.

🎯 Friendly competition brought lots of laughter during our group games of bowls and target games.

🚌 Residents thoroughly enjoyed bus trips to Greendale Farm, where we had lunch together and enjoyed walking around to see the animals.

☕ We were delighted to be invited to Blundell's School for a wonderful high tea, followed by a stroll through their beautiful gardens. Thank you for your warm hospitality.

🎨 Creativity was flowing during our craft sessions, where residents made birthday cards and beautiful jewellery using colourful beads. Our flower arranging activities produced some lovely displays that brightened up the home with the kind donation of flowers brought to the home!

🎶 To round off the month, we visited Barnhaven for a fantastic garden party, complete with a BBQ, music, games, and great company.

A huge thank you to everyone who helps make these experiences possible. It has been a wonderful month filled with friendship, fun, and special memories. We look forward to seeing what June brings!

🐣April at Margaret Allen Care Home 🐣

April has been a joyful and busy month here at Margaret Allen Care Home, filled with laughter, fresh air, and wonderful moments shared together.

We celebrated Easter in style with plenty of fun and smiles! Our residents were delighted by a special visit from a very lively bunny and chicken (courtesy of our fantastic staff in costume 🐰🐔), who handed out Easter eggs and brought lots of laughter throughout the home.

With the lovely spring weather, many of our residents enjoyed spending time out in the garden, relaxing with a cuppa and soaking up the sunshine — simple moments that mean so much.

Our bus trips have been a real highlight this month, with outings to Knightshayes in Tiverton, a delicious lunch at the Fisherman’s Cot, a scenic picnic at Watchet Harbour, and a peaceful visit to Wimbleball Lake. These trips are always full of smiles, great conversation, and beautiful views.

Back at the home, we’ve kept active and engaged with our weekly seated exercise classes, along with crafting sessions, puzzle games, and group ball games — something for everyone to enjoy.

🌟 Employee of the Month – Freya Musgrove 🌟A huge congratulations to Freya for her fantastic work this month. Freya has shown growing confidence and a real willingness to step outside of her comfort zone, especially in supporting care shifts when needed. She is always happy to help, engages warmly with residents, and has built strong relationships across the home. Freya also takes great pride in her cleaning duties, consistently working to a high standard. Her dedication truly makes her a valued member of our team — well done, Freya!

As we move into May, we’re looking forward to more outings, more laughter, and more special moments together here at Margaret Allen Care Home.

🐣 March at Margaret Allen 🐣

March has been a wonderful and busy month here at Margaret Allen Care Home, filled with activities, outings, and plenty of smiles shared between residents, staff, and visitors.

We’ve enjoyed some lovely mini bus trips this month, including a visit to Bridwell Café for a relaxing cuppa with beautiful surroundings, and a trip to Tiverton Museum, which brought back many fond memories and sparked lots of conversation among residents.

Back at the home, we’ve been getting creative with Easter crafts, making a variety of colourful decorations to brighten up our spaces. Alongside this, residents have taken part in plenty of baking sessions, producing delicious treats that everyone thoroughly enjoyed tasting afterwards!

We also had a special celebration for Mother’s Day, honouring all kinds of mothers and sharing heartfelt moments together.

Our weekly exercise classes continue to be a great success, helping everyone stay active, mobile, and feeling positive.

A big highlight of the month was taking part in Red Nose Day, where residents and staff came together to raise money for Comic Relief. It was a fantastic day filled with laughter, energy, and community spirit — and a huge success thanks to everyone involved!

🎉 Employee of the Month – Congratulations Sally 🎉
Sally has been recognised for putting her heart into everything she does. She is always cooking up wonderful treats, keeping the kitchen well stocked, and maintaining a clean and organised space. Her hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed — well done Sally!

As we move into April, we look forward to more adventures on the minibus, more fun activities, and plenty of laughter shared together, whatever we may be doing.

🔴 Red Nose Day 🔴

A huge THANK YOU to all the amazing staff at Margaret Allen House and Barnhaven Care for your incredible help and teamwork in making our Red Nose Day fundraiser such a success! ❤️🚴‍♂️

Yesterday, we took on a 12-hour exercise bike challenge at Margaret Allen House to raise money for Comic Relief, and what a day it was! It was fantastic to see staff, residents, and families all getting involved, cheering each other on, and having such a brilliant time together.

We truly couldn’t have done it without the support, effort, and enthusiasm from everyone involved. Your teamwork and community spirit made the day so special, and we’re so proud of what we achieved together.

Thank you all once again for helping us raise money for such an important cause ❤️

All money raised will be donated to Comic Relief.

🚴‍♀️ Comic Relief Bike Ride Fundraiser – Friday 20th March at Margaret Allen House 🔴

Just a little reminder that the residents and staff at Margaret Allen House and Barnhaven Care Home will be taking part in our exercise bike ride fundraiser for Comic Relief on Friday 20th March

We’ll be cycling throughout the day to help raise money for this fantastic cause, and we would love for you to come along, show your support, enjoy the fun and maybe even cheer us on ❤️

If you’re unable to make it on the day but would still like to support us, we have set up a JustGiving page where you can donate. Every little bit helps and will go towards supporting the amazing work Comic Relief does.
