Here’s to HRH Queen Elizabeth II for a long life well lived!

I raised a tea cup to Her Majesty today and couldn’t help but wonder what the world has lost.

Whether you’re a fan of the Royals or not, most of us cannot fault this ‘matriarch’ of our society who reigned for 70 years without putting a foot wrong for the most part. The Queen championed the causes of so many charities worthy of support and addressed the issues of the day with tact and diplomacy among leaders.

Here are some of her wise words spoken last year at COP26 on the subject of climate change. May her legacy live on.

“It is the hope of many that the legacy of this summit – written in history books yet to be printed – will describe you as the leaders who did not pass up the opportunity; and that you answered the call of those future generations. That you left this conference as a community of nations with a determination, a desire, and a plan, to address the impact of climate change; and to recognise that the time for words has now moved to the time for action.

“Of course, the benefits of such actions will not be there to enjoy for all of us here today: we none of us will live forever. But we are doing this not for ourselves but for our children and our children’s children, and those who will follow in their footsteps.

“And so, I wish you every good fortune in this significant endeavour.”

'LinkedIn can be accused of many things, but being cool is rarely one of them.'

Some interesting insights in this article. Who would have thought that LinkedIN would emerge as the channel of choice for gen-z? Not gen-x or milennials, that's for sure.

The social media landscape is constantly evolving and it's not always obvious which platform is right for you and your audience.

Choosing the channel that can help you reach them and packaging your content in the right way, is key to a successful content marketing strategy.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Here I am, around the same age as my daughter is now, exploring the Peak District with my family. I love those hills but I love the sea more and the landlocked midlands wasn’t for me.

I’ve followed my dreams by living close to the sea but there’s been plenty of ups and downs along the way. There’s still a mountain or two to climb yet. Here’s to all the ladies out there keeping on keeping on. Especially our European neighbours right now. Thinking of them.

What’s your story? There’s still time to join my digital storytelling workshop next week. DM for the promo code for an early bird price in celebration of International Women’s Day.

𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝’𝚜 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚢?

It’s just over three years since I started running workshops to help purpose-driven people tell their stories online via social media, email or blogs. What I’ve found in that time is that each participant has a genuine passion for what they do and I love helping them to find their voice to express that. Finding a content strategy that suits you and your business is key to unlocking the potential of digital tools.

Sessions were held at the REconomy Centre, a shared working space in Totnes and were well received by participants. When the pandemic hit I was able to hold them online. Yet there’s something special about holding this kind of workshop in person, so i’m pleased to be able to hold another session at the REConomy Centre in a couple of weeks.

Happy Twosday!

Did you know that today's date is a palindrome day? – it can be read the same way forward as back. It's also an ambigram.

"There is no Wifi in the forest, but I promise you will find a better connection." - Ralph Smart.

A Smart thing to say (living up to his name!) and a kind thing to do for yourself.

If you're still here, it's and a good excuse to be reminded of the principles of good etiquette online - especially since virtual networks have been more pervasive than ever before in the past 18 months.

The online world can be an unforgiving place. Some people think they have greater anonymity online and this can lead to bad behaviour ranging from foul language to direct personal attacks.

What people tend to forget is that there’s a person on the receiving end of their comments with real human emotions. They may also be unaware that their digital footprint can never be erased!

We should all think about how we want to show up online and ask ourselves if that’s how we want others to perceive us in our everyday lives. After all, the same rules of human interaction should apply online just as it does in the real world.

Be kind to yourself and others online and take a break from the screen. Head out into the woods for the weekend instead. Your avatar will thank you for it. 🌳

Over and out.
