Sometimes the best image is the one you weren’t actually planning to take.
I’d gone out to film a video further along the coast, but the conditions had other ideas. The light shifted, the sky started warming up, and suddenly the sensible thing was to abandon the video and head up to West Wheal Owles instead.
This is as you will all know by now is my favourite engine house in Cornwall. There’s just something about it standing there above the Atlantic, battered by weather, wrapped in history.
The sun at this time of year aligns perfectly through this window, giving me this starburst, and just like that… the failed video didn’t feel like a failure at all.
