We are incredibly proud of 32West team members James Higgins and David Coulter, who are preparing to tackle the Keswick to Barrow Walk in a few weeks’ time.
Both James and David completed K2B last year and, while they hadn’t planned to return to the challenging 40-mile route quite so soon, they have been inspired to do so by our colleague Jonathan Lee.
Jonathan suffered a cardiac arrest in a leisure centre earlier this year. The swift actions of staff who administered CPR and used a defibrillator, followed by the outstanding care from paramedics and hospital teams, saved his life.
We are incredibly grateful that Jonathan is still with us.
Jonathan is a long-time Keswick to Barrow walker and would have loved to take part again this year, but his health doesn’t allow it at present. His experience is one of the reasons the British Heart Foundation has been chosen as a supported charity this year.
Alongside this, James and David are also raising funds for Mind in Furness and St Mary's Hospice - two vital local charities providing essential support within the community.
They will be joined in the walk by James' childhood friend John, who was up for the challenge (but doesn't know what he's let himself in for!)
Whether you know Jonathan personally, support any of the charities involved, or simply understand the physical and mental challenge of the Keswick to Barrow Walk, any support would be hugely appreciated. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
