Been together a while? Fancy trying something that might just surprise you both? I’m looking for a small number of local Lancashire couples who might be open to taking part in a documentary photography experiment, filmed by me.

The idea is simple; one partner photographs the man, and he sees the results at the end. I’ll be filming the process myself, and after decades of filming real people on camera, putting participants at ease is second nature.

This isn’t about modelling or ‘looking sexy.’ It’s about noticing the little things you carry with you, the confidence you don’t always see, and the connection with your partner that you sometimes take for granted.

It’s about experiencing a side of yourself you might not expect to see. No previous experience is needed, and all body types are welcome.

If this feels like something you might be interested in, please message me privately. I’ll explain the full process before anyone commits, and taking part is entirely up to you.

I love filming people, and I’ve been doing it for most of my life. Back in 2006, I was one of the country’s first ever YouTubers.

Since then, I’ve worked in reality and fly on the wall documentary, capturing real moments. The small everyday interactions that tell more about us than we usually notice.

I’m exploring a YouTube idea with couples and photography, noticing the little everyday things we carry with us, and seeing ourselves the way our partner sees us.

I want to create something people can watch with their heart, something that might make them see themselves differently.

The idea is simple; a photo shoot, then a reveal of the images. No previews, no retakes. Just playfulness, honesty and recognising what we bring to each other every day, often without noticing.

Looking back over the last ten or twenty years, what’s something about yourself that stands out to you now in a way it didn’t back then?

Friday question... When do men stop feeling attractive?

Not the gym every day, calorie counting types. Just ordinary blokes who don’t get there as often as they should. The ones juggling work, family, stress, life.

I'm in the over 50 club myself now and I do take notice of what my Fitbit tells me, but I’ve been thinking about how men see themselves physically in their 40s and 50s, especially in long-term relationships.

We don’t really talk about it. We joke about dad bods and getting old, but that’s usually where it stops.
Over the next few months I’m putting more time into my YouTube channel and looking at stories around midlife confidence and how partners see each other over time.

I’d genuinely like to know this: when you look in the mirror, do you see the same man or partner you used to? Or do we just get better at pretending it matters less than it does?

Ever notice how some YouTube creators grow faster than others? The secret isn’t fancy gear or luck. It’s finding a niche.

Focusing on what you genuinely care about, something you’re good at, something other people actually want to see.

And here’s the thing. Finding your niche builds confidence. Even small wins make you start believing in your ideas, your skills, and yes, even in yourself.

Which makes me wonder. Why do so many men, even those who’ve achieved a lot, struggle to see their own value? In public, on camera, or even just in the mirror.

Over the next few weeks, I’m exploring this more. How creativity, self-expression, and a bit of courage can help people see themselves differently.

What’s one thing you’ve done that made you feel more confident about yourself?

Thinking about starting a YouTube channel? At one point, my channel was getting more daily viewers than Richard & Judy.

I started it back in 2006, long before 'being a YouTuber' was really a thing.

Since then we’ve seen creators build massive careers on the platform;
• Zoella reportedly earned around £50,000 a month from her YouTube-led business.
• KSI made gaming videos in his bedroom and has a media empire worth tens of millions, with boxing matches, music, and now a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.

Of course, not everyone will reach those levels.

But it does show what can happen when someone builds an audience online.
I’ve spent my entire career communicating and engaging with people, and these are probably the five things I’d say to anyone starting a YouTube channel;

1. Start before you feel ready. Your early videos won’t be perfect. That’s normal.

2. Talk about something you actually care about. If you're interested in it, that usually comes across.

3. Consistency beats perfection. A regular video is usually better than waiting ages to make something 'perfect'.

4. Be yourself. People respond to authenticity far more than polish.

5. Give it time. Most successful channels grow slowly.

Just out of interest, what sort of YouTube channel would you start?

I’ve got a few upcoming projects myself that will show just how creative people can get with video.

Me and Mum: This photo was taken when I was about four, just over 3 years before my mum died. In the short time I knew her, I still have little memories, like writing notes and hiding them under her pillow for after she’d finished work at the Walls factory in Godley.

I was born on a Sunday at 3pm, so I’ve looked up what song was number one then, and it was ‘Love Me for a Reason’ by The Osmonds. I like to think it was playing on the radio while she held me for the first time.

I hope my mum would be proud of the life I’ve built and the work I do.

I've done a video about my memories of the time I lost my Mum, It's not live on my YouTube channel until Sunday but if you like you can have a watch, it’s in the comments.

If your mum is still around give her a hug when you can, I hope you treasure every moment with her and remember she’s doing the best she can.

This is play money. But the money you can make from YouTube and TikTok isn’t. Some industry estimates suggest that YouTube pays out more than $30 billion per year to creators across ad revenue, channel memberships, and other monetisation tools. (Link to these stats below).

I’ve spent over 20 years creating video content for online audiences, and here’s what most people still get wrong… They think they need expensive cameras, qualifications, and Industry connections.

But you don’t. You need an idea and a niche, the confidence (or courage) to talk to camera, consistency, and something to film on, even an iPhone

That’s it.

The real shift happens when you stop 'playing at making videos' and start treating it like a platform, a business, a channel with long term intent.

And one thing makes that shift much easier; A network. I want to build a small group of creators who are serious about turning content into income. Supporting each other, sharing what works, holding each other accountable.

If you're up for moving from Monopoly money to real revenue, comment below or DM me. Let’s build something that pays.

Here's three of the craziest situations I’ve had to deal with while filming... Asking the backing dancers of techno band Scooter to put knickers on under their silver hot pants because… how they were dressed was just not acceptable for a Saturday morning BBC kids’ show.

ITV2 Ghost Hunting with Happy Mondays. Absolutely mad. Highlights included Shaun pi***ng himself in fear locked in a prison cell, and being burned with a cigarette by ‘a ghost’.

On a Channel 4 daytime show calming down a slightly hysterical male bodybuilder from Newcastle, dressed as a Spanish flamenco dancer (one of the most recognised symbols of Spanish culture), dancing for tokens on the streets of Barcelona during one of the unexpectedly biggest Catalan Independence protests (Spanish symbols weren't exactly welcome).

Sometimes TV work is chaotic, ridiculous… and yes, occasionally it involves filming out of the back of a van, harnessed up (as the photo shows!).
