Another one on accessible colours. I know I’m repeating myself, but I feel like it’s something that needs to be said again.

I get it — visual appeal and those small aesthetic details matter, too. And I agree, to a point. They work well as an aesthetic on Instagram. But I’m not saying everything has to be oversized fonts and extreme contrast all the time — just that, more often than not, clarity in your message wins.

The colour examples in this post are inspired by designs I’ve seen on Instagram, but I wouldn’t share anyone’s work directly.

Controversial opinions… some more than others :)
Being a designer isn’t the same for everyone—we all approach things differently.

For me, the goal is always to create something unique, thoughtfully, and efficiently.
But that doesn’t mean rushing for the sake of speed.

Every step has a purpose, and the process deserves care.

Your brand is how people experience the value you’ve created. 🌿

Even if your candles are eco-conscious or handmade, the way your brand looks and speaks can help people feel confident choosing you.

When your visuals, messaging, and personality reflect intention and care, it becomes easier for the right customers to recognise your quality—and connect with it.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about showing up in a way that honours what you make and who you’re serving.

Beige + black can absolutely work for a premium brand. ✨

But here’s the thing—without a recognisable colour, your brand might be blending in more than you realise.

A single, intentional colour can:

• elevate visibility
• Make your brand memorable
• guide your audience through your experience

I tested this with a premium candle brand—introducing a rich, bright green instantly added personality, and helped the brand stand out while keeping the minimal, elevated feel.

Minimal doesn’t have to mean forgettable.

So here’s my question for you: what’s your main brand colour right now?

Drop it in the comments 👇 and let’s see how brands add their signature touch!

Even well-made, eco-conscious products can lose their value if the packaging doesn’t reflect their quality. It creates a disconnect—where the product feels premium, but doesn’t look it.

This is part two of why your £50 candle isn’t selling—but really, it applies to any premium product. If the packaging doesn’t match the level of care behind it, people won’t fully trust the price.

Packaging is part of the brand journey, not an afterthought. Without a clear, consistent approach, it can affect how people see and value what you’ve created.

Artphysis illustrations are growing. Working on my own brand has been one of the most challenging parts of the process.

I have a distinct drawing style, but I can also adapt. For a while, I wasn’t sure how to express Artphysis through illustration. Then I found a way—by making a clear design decision and letting the rest flow naturally.

A small insight: when I work with clients, I step away from my own perspective. I go deep into your world to create something that reflects your brand, not mine. That’s why the process takes time.

If you need support with illustrations, feel free to get in touch :)

How much time did you actually spend on your brand strategy?

Many eco-conscious brands pour so much care into their product: ingredients, sustainability, craftsmanship — but the strategy behind it often gets less attention.

Sustainable candles can absolutely look, and be perceived as premium brands. But that perception doesn’t happen by accident.

Knowing who your audience is, where they shop, and how your brand is positioned is what helps a product step into premium territory — whether you’re a candle brand, wellness business, dental clinic, or working within craftsmanship.

This series was inspired by a candle I came across — beautifully made, but simply packaged, and struggling to sell at a higher price point. It made me reflect on how much perception shapes value.

Marketing and investment play a huge role too — just not my area of expertise. I’m sharing this purely from a brand designer’s perspective.

A thought for anyone who feels like they’re doing social media wrong.

For a long time, I felt the same.
Not enough likes.
Not enough followers.
Not enough engagement.

And every piece of advice seemed different: post more, make reels, follow this or that strategy.

It’s easy to start measuring your work through those numbers.

But social media metrics don’t measure your skill, experience, or the quality of what you do.

The real work often happens quietly — in research, strategy, craft, and thoughtful decisions.

That’s the kind of work I believe in most: slow, intentional design that helps brands grow with clarity. Not all of that comes through social media, and I believe that's the case for many of us.

If social media ever makes you question yourself, remember: your expertise is bigger than an algorithm and you will find the best way for your brand to show yourself publicly.

✨ Share this with someone who might need this reminder today.

This illustration brought my creativity back.
Inspired by William Morris, it reminded me why I love to draw. I’ve heard people say AI can do our jobs as creatives. I don’t see it that way. It can execute, yes — but it can’t observe, think, or feel the way we do. It’s a tool. Nothing more.
And I won’t give up the things that bring me joy — especially drawing.

AI can be useful. I use it to structure ideas and explore directions.

But generating endless visuals “just because” comes with a real environmental cost.

If you’re building a sustainable brand, alignment matters.

Values don’t stop at packaging — they extend to your process and tools too.

For me, design should be intentional. Human-led. Thoughtful.

AI isn’t the problem.
Unmindful use is.

What’s your perspective on using AI in a sustainable business? 🌿
