Splash Printing

Splash Printing Splash Printing is a leading Watford print centre offering litho/digital print, design and media For the past 30+ years we have built a business to be proud of.

Our customers love us because it is so unusual to find the kind of customer care shown by Splash Printing. Everybody is on hand to help any enquiry – whether it is a first time quote, an artwork query or a request for a personal visit. We are not an online print shop – we feel printing is a much more interesting and useful product than just putting ink onto the cheapest, flimsy, paper. Our custome

rs really appreciate the advice given about even the smallest job. We can pay you a visit with all kinds of paper and print samples. We offer a huge range of finishes including spot UV varnish, lamination, foil blocking, blind embossing and die cutting – in other words all ways to make your printing different from your competitors. You don’t have to have A4 and A5 sizes – dare to be different! We want to offer a more bespoke print service and yet in print costs it will still be incredibly good value for money. With Splash ‘different’ doesn’t mean ‘expensive’. We take great pleasure and pride in producing items that our customers are absolutely delighted with.

What is the difference between PUR and Perfect Binding?

With perfect binding, the hot melt glue pellets that liquefy when heated and solidify as they cool can dry out and go brittle. Often this can lead to the spine cracking and pages falling out once the brochure or catalogue is folded back or pushed flat.

PUR binding (polyurethane adhesive) offers more flexibility. Like perfect binding it is processed hot and hardens by cooling, but from then on is impervious to heat. Once set it takes 24 hours to go off, but does give extra strength.

We would nearly always recommend PUR binding to our customers. Whilst it may be slightly more expensive, in our opinion it is worth the extra cost. Why would you spend your budget on a publication, only to risk it falling apart with use?

Looking to print on an Uncoated paper?

Uncoated paper is a popular choice amongst companies who want to give a natural feel to their printed material. This is due to its slightly grainy texture.

Uncoated papers are generally more porous than coated papers. They are available in many different textures, colours, weights and finishes. When printed on, the ink is absorbed into the paper. This characteristic means images printed on uncoated stock are softer and warmer; less crisp and defined.

Once printing is complete, uncoated papers take much longer to dry. This subtle, understated quality of printing on uncoated paper is the ideal choice for high quality print work where a more approachable appearance is desirable.
