We're halfway through the year.

How's that going?

If social media was on the list of things you were going to get properly sorted in 2026 and it's still sitting there untouched, you're not alone.

It's one of those tasks that feels urgent until something more urgent comes along. Then it gets pushed. Then it gets pushed again.

The thing is, the longer it sits there, the bigger it feels.

It's really not that complicated to get sorted. One conversation, a clear plan, and it stops being a thing you're worried about.

If you want to actually tick it off the list before the year is out, now's a good time to get in touch πŸ“©

Inconsistency is one of the most common problems we see when we look at a business's social media for the first time.

Different fonts. Different tones. Posts that sound like three different people wrote them. Some weeks busy, others completely silent.

It happens for one reason: there's no system.

Here's what consistency actually requires:

🎨 A visual style you stick to. Same colours, same fonts, same overall feel.
✍️ A tone of voice that sounds the same whoever writes the post.
πŸ“… A posting schedule you can actually maintain, not an ambitious one you'll abandon by week three.
πŸ“‹ A simple content plan so you're never starting from scratch every time.

None of this has to be complicated. But it does have to be deliberate.

If your page looks a bit all over the place right now, that's the starting point.

We sort this out for our clients from day one πŸ“©

People often ask what social media management actually involves day to day.

Here's a look at a typical week:

Monday: Content planning and writing for the week ahead across our clients. Captions, graphics briefs, scheduling.

Tuesday and Wednesday: Creating and scheduling content. Checking in on what went out last week and how it performed.

Thursday: Reporting, strategy reviews, and any client catch ups.

Friday: Getting ahead for the following week, researching trends, and occasionally spending time with alpacas.

Behind every post that goes out is a lot of thinking, planning and writing that most people never see.

That's the part our clients hand over to us. So they can get on with actually running their business.

If you want to know more about how it works, we're always happy to chat πŸ“©

Most businesses treat Stories as an afterthought.

Post something to the feed, share it to the story, done.

But Stories are one of the best places to actually build a relationship with your audience.

Here's why:

πŸ‘ They feel personal, not polished. People expect a different tone in Stories and that's exactly what makes them work.
πŸ‘ They show up at the top of the feed every time. Your followers see them before they even start scrolling.
πŸ‘ They disappear after 24 hours, which means there's no pressure to make them perfect.
πŸ‘ Polls, questions and sliders in Stories get engagement that feed posts can't touch.

If you're only ever posting to the feed, you're missing a conversation that's already happening.

Start showing up in Stories more. It doesn't have to be complicated πŸ“©

One of the most common reasons businesses avoid video?

"I hate being on camera."

Completely understandable. But video doesn't have to mean talking to a lens.

Here are five ways to use video without showing your face:

🎬 A time-lapse of your workspace or process
🎬 A product being made, packed or used
🎬 Text on screen with background music
🎬 A screen recording walking through something useful
🎬 Behind the scenes footage without a presenter

Video gets more reach than almost any other format right now. You don't have to be the face of it to benefit from it.

Start with what feels manageable and build from there.

If you're not sure how to make video work for your specific business, that's something we can help figure out πŸ“©

"I'll sort the social media once things calm down."
Means: it's been on the list for eight months.

"We've got someone doing it in house."
Means: someone remembers to post occasionally when they have five minutes.

"We don't really need social media, most of our work comes through word of mouth."
Means: imagine how much more work there'd be if people could find you online too.

"I'm going to start properly in the new year."
Means: January will come and go much like the last one did.

No judgement here. Running a business is relentless and social media always ends up at the bottom of the pile.

But if any of those sounded a bit familiar, you know where we are πŸ“©

What our clients tend to say after the first month
We hear a few things pretty consistently after the first month of working together.

"I didn't realise how much time I was wasting trying to do this myself."

"The content actually sounds like us."

"Someone messaged us through Instagram for the first time ever."

"I stopped feeling guilty every time I opened my phone."

None of that happens because of one brilliant post. It happens because something is finally being done consistently, properly and by someone who knows what they're doing.

That's what Fat Croc does.

If you've been meaning to sort your social media for a while, now's as good a time as any to have a conversation about it πŸ“©

We get asked a lot: "so what exactly do you do?"

Fair question. Here's the answer.

We take social media completely off your plate.

That means:

πŸ“ Planning your content in advance so there's always something ready to go
✍️ Writing captions that sound like you, not like a generic business account
🎨 Creating or sourcing visuals that look the part
πŸ“… Scheduling everything so posts go out at the right time, consistently
πŸ“Š Keeping an eye on what's working and adjusting as we go

You stay in the loop without having to do any of the doing.

Most of our clients come to us because they've tried doing it themselves, tried getting a member of staff to pick it up, and neither worked long term.

We're based in Northamptonshire but work with businesses across the UK.

If you want to know what this could look like for your business specifically, drop us a message πŸ“©

Viral posts are great when they happen.

But building a business on social media doesn't require one.

In fact, most of the businesses we work with have never had a viral post. What they have is:

βœ” A consistent presence that builds trust over time
βœ” Content that speaks directly to the people they want to work with
βœ” A clear message that makes it obvious what they do and who it's for
βœ” Regular posts that remind their audience they exist

That last one is more powerful than it sounds. Most people don't buy the first time they see you. They buy after they've seen you enough times to feel like they know you.

Consistency beats virality every time for small businesses.

If you're waiting for the perfect post to take off before you commit to social media, you're waiting for something you don't need.

Two numbers that get confused a lot:

πŸ“Š Reach: how many people saw your post
πŸ’¬ Engagement: how many people did something with it

A post can have huge reach and zero engagement. That usually means it caught people's eye but didn't give them a reason to stop.

A post can have small reach but great engagement. That usually means the people who saw it really connected with it.

Both matter, but for different reasons.

Reach builds awareness. New people find out you exist.
Engagement builds trust. People who already know you feel something.

The goal is to grow both over time. But if you're a small business just getting started, focus on engagement first. A small, engaged audience will do more for you than a large, indifferent one.

If your posts are getting seen but not responded to, the content needs looking at, not the posting schedule.

That's a conversation we can help with πŸ“©
