Out and About with Digidol! 🚲🔧

This week I caught up with Bikes With Jay, to have a proper look around his workshop and finalise the last details on his new website ready for launch.

Bikes With Jay is a professional bike servicing, repairs and maintenance business based in Welshpool, supporting riders across Mid Wales and Shropshire. From quick repairs and general tune-ups to more specialist work, Jay brings a huge amount of knowledge, care and attention to every bike he works on.

What makes Bikes With Jay really stand out is the level of experience behind the business. Jay Cruse has spent over 15 years working with bikes, starting from fixing and repainting bikes in his grandad’s shed, through to working in local bike shops, the British Cycling Federation Team, and now as a mechanic for the Cube Factory Racing Downhill Team.

Spending time in the workshop, it’s clear how much pride Jay takes in doing things properly. The tools, setup and attention to detail all reflect the same thing we wanted the website to communicate: professional bike care, honest pricing and no unnecessary complications.

That World Cup-level experience is a massive part of the brand, but what I really like about the business is the straightforward, honest approach. Clear pricing, no surprise repairs, proper communication and genuine care for every bike project, no matter how big or small.

The new website has been built to properly showcase Jay’s services, experience, availability and pricing, making it easier for local riders to check when he is available, understand what work their bike needs and how to get it booked in.

It’s always great working with businesses that are built around real passion and specialist knowledge, and Bikes With Jay is a brilliant example of that. Helping Jay bring the same high standards he applies to World Cup bikes to riders across Mid Wales and Shropshire has been a really enjoyable project to be part of.

If your bike needs a service, repair or a proper once-over before your next ride, make sure to check out the new Bikes With Jay website at https://bikeswithjay.co.uk 🚲🔧

Tip #018 – Collaborate With Other Local Businesses

Running a small business can feel overwhelming at times.

You’re trying to attract new customers, keep your website updated, stay active on social media, respond to enquiries, manage reviews, and somehow still find time to actually run the business itself.

It’s a lot!

But one thing many small business owners forget is this: you’re not doing it alone.

There are countless other local businesses around you facing the exact same challenges, trying to grow their audience, build trust, and make their name known within the community.

That’s why collaboration can be such a powerful marketing tool.

Working with other local businesses helps you expand your reach, strengthen your reputation, and connect with new audiences in a genuine way. And the best part? It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Collaboration can be as simple as:
• Tagging another local business in a post
• Sharing each other’s content
• Recommending trusted suppliers
• Creating a joint giveaway or offer
• Hosting an event together
• Supporting each other publicly online

Even small gestures can make a big impact.

When another business shares or recommends your brand, you’re being introduced to their audience through trust that already exists—and that kind of marketing is incredibly valuable.

It also creates stronger local relationships, builds community spirit, and reminds people that there are real humans behind every small business.

✨Actionable Tip – Share The Love Locally

Think of a local business you genuinely admire, regularly work with, or often recommend.

Create a post about them. Tag them. Tell your audience why you value what they do and encourage others to support them too.

Not only does it make great content, but it’s also a fantastic way to build stronger local connections online.

New Blog: What does AI actually mean for local businesses? 🖊️

There’s been a lot of noise around AI and how it is changing online search.

But for small businesses that rely on local customers, the message is actually quite reassuring.

Local search is still built on the fundamentals:

📍 Location
⭐ Reputation
✅ Clear services
🔎 An optimised Google Business Profile
🌐 A strong, consistent digital presence

AI can summarise information, compare businesses and influence how people research local services, but it cannot make a business more local to the customer searching.

That means local SEO is still one of the most valuable and cost-effective ways for small businesses to attract enquiries, bookings and leads.

The biggest risk for local businesses in 2026 is not AI replacing local search. It is outdated profiles, unclear website content, poor service pages and an inconsistent online presence.

In our latest blog, we look at what AI means for local search, why Google Maps remains so important, and what small businesses can do to future-proof their visibility.

Tip #017 - Reduce, Reuse & Recycle Your Content ♻️

Creating fresh content consistently can feel overwhelming, but you don’t always need to start from scratch. Repurposing existing content is one of the easiest ways to save time while keeping your social media and website active and engaging.

Take a look at the content you already have and think about how it can be refreshed or adapted for different platforms.

For example, your website might already contain valuable content that can be transformed into social posts. A “Meet the Team” page can easily become a series of employee spotlight posts for social media. With just a few small tweaks, one webpage can provide multiple pieces of engaging content.

It works the other way too. A social media post can be a great starting point for a blog post or email newsletter. This creates fresh website content, supports SEO, and helps improve visibility on Google.

Actionable Tips:

💻 Website → Social Media
Review your website and identify sections that could be repurposed into social content. Think creatively and make the most of what you already have.

🖼 Social Media → Website
Extend the value of your social posts by turning them into blogs, portfolio pieces, FAQs, or new website sections.

Need advice on how to transform your existing content into social media posts? We offer a FREE 1-hour consultation for small business owners looking to improve their digital presence.

Tip #016 - Show Everything You Do

Coming up with fresh ideas for social media content can feel challenging, but not every post needs to directly sell your products or services.

As small business owners, we live and breathe our businesses every single day. Because we’re so immersed in it, it’s easy to forget that our audience doesn’t see everything happening behind the scenes to make the business successful.

The reality is; you’re always doing something, which means you always have something worth sharing.

Whether you’re testing new ideas, improving existing products, developing a prototype, learning a new skill, or gaining qualifications to expand your services, bring your audience along for the journey.

Showing the effort, commitment, and passion behind your business helps people connect with your brand on a deeper level. It demonstrates how much you care about the quality of what you offer and can help build stronger loyalty and excitement around your future plans.

📸 Actionable Tip:

Think about what happens behind the scenes in your business that your audience would find interesting, valuable, or inspiring. Turn those moments into posts or stories and give people an insight into the work, passion, and dedication that goes into making your business a success.

Out and About with Digidol! 👕🤝🏼

I recently visited Mid Wales Sign & Print, who helped kit us out with a range of Digidol branded workwear for client visits and days out on the road.

It might seem like a small detail, but having professional, consistent branding across clothing, signage, promotional materials and vehicles makes a huge difference when it comes to first impressions and how you want to represent your business.

It also helps raise awareness when you’re out and about, with people recognising the brand and starting conversations, or simply becoming more familiar with what your business offers through repeated exposure.

During our visit, we had a great conversation about the challenges facing small businesses across Mid Wales, Shropshire and the rest of the UK. Rising costs and increasing competition are putting more pressure on businesses to stand out.

We discussed the importance of combining a strong digital presence with a strong physical presence. Your website, social media and online visibility are crucial, but so too are the things people see in the real world, from signage and print to branded workwear and how your team represents your business day to day.

Like Digidol, Mid Wales Sign & Print works closely with local businesses and understands the importance of supporting the local economy. Our markets align closely, and it’s always great to connect with businesses that share the same mindset when it comes to helping small businesses grow both locally and on a national scale.

From signage and vehicle graphics to branded clothing, print materials and promotional items, Mid Wales Sign & Print offers everything you need to present your business professionally and consistently. If you’re looking to improve your branding offline, we recommend getting in touch.

Tip #015 - Talk WITH, not AT, your audience

When creating content for your business’s social media, it’s tempting to take the easy route; reusing the same posts, tweaking a few words, or swapping out a graphic just to stay consistent.

While posting regularly is important (and something I’ll always encourage at Digidol), social media has evolved. With algorithm changes and a stronger emphasis on paid promotion, repetitive, copy-and-paste content is often deprioritised across most platforms.

Algorithms now favour content that keeps users engaged. That means posts with likes, comments, and shares are far more likely to be pushed into more feeds, reaching not only your followers but their networks too. If your content feels repetitive or uninspired, it’s far less likely to get that engagement.

This shift creates an opportunity. Instead of simply broadcasting messages, focus on starting conversations. Social media should feel like a two-way street, not a one-sided announcement board.

By creating content that invites interaction, such as polls, questions, or discussion points, you not only improve your reach but also strengthen your relationship with your audience. Over time, this builds trust, loyalty, and encourages repeat business.

✨ Actionable tip: Spark interaction and join the conversation

Think about content that encourages your audience to engage, whether that’s liking, commenting, or sharing. Ask questions, run polls, or invite opinions. And when they respond, don’t ignore it - engage back.

This is your chance to build genuine connections and turn followers into loyal customers!

Weekly Tip #14: PROVIDE YOUR FOLLOWERS WITH VALUE 💎

Social media gives you a powerful opportunity to market directly to your audience. You can showcase your products or services anytime, reaching people wherever they are and whatever they’re doing.

But here’s the catch: every other business has that same opportunity. So, how do you stand out?

By providing value.

The simplest way to do this is by sharing content your audience can actually use; whether that’s helpful insights, practical tips, or engaging media. Give them something that benefits them beyond just promoting what you sell.

What you’re reading right now is a perfect example. Digidol’s weekly digital marketing tips are completely free. Time is invested into creating content that helps small businesses, start-ups, and self-employed individuals improve their digital presence on their own. By sharing knowledge and expertise, real value is delivered to the audience.

This approach might not always lead to instant conversions or enquiries, but that’s not the point! Over time, it builds trust, strengthens your brand, grows your audience, and establishes your reputation. And in the long run, that value comes back to your business.

🫴 Actionable tip: Give back to your followers

Think about why people follow you. What are they hoping to gain? Then focus on delivering that consistently. Better yet, inspire them, show them creative or unique ways they can use your product or service in their own lives.

📩 If you have any questions about digital marketing or need help coming up with ideas on how to provide value through your content, then feel free to reach out or visit our website.

Tip #013: KEEP POSTING

Social media can quickly become a headache for small business owners. At the start, everything feels exciting; you’re launching something new, setting a date, and sharing it everywhere.

But then reality kicks in. Your “baby” now needs constant attention. Running the business takes up your time and demands your focus. Meanwhile, those shiny new social media accounts you encouraged everyone to follow slowly drift out of sight, and out of mind for your audience too.

It’s easy to start questioning the value. After all, it’s rare that a single post immediately brings a customer straight to your inbox.

However, consistent social media activity is a powerful form of passive marketing. Your potential customers are already scrolling through their feeds every day. By showing up regularly you’re gently reminding them that you exist, so when they do need your product or service, you’re the one they remember.

That said, creating content can feel time-consuming, and that’s a completely fair concern. Even I’ve had moments where Digidol’s socials slipped. So how do you stay consistent without it taking over your schedule?

📷 Actionable tip: Bulk content creation

Set aside time at the start of each month or quarter to create your content in batches. Build a library of posts ready to go. If you want to go one step further, schedule them in advance so they’re published automatically, freeing you up to focus on running your business.

It can be simple. Choose four content themes, like *Services*, *Meet the Team*, *Projects*, and *Offers*. Create four posts for each category, then schedule one post per week. Just like that, you’ve got weeks of content ready, much of which you can reuse later.

Out and About with Digidol! ⛰️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Last week we made our way up to North Wales to catch up with Pen Wiwar, an incredible Welsh clothing brand that we’ve been working with since they launched online.

I first met Dan, the founder at university in Liverpool through the Welsh-speaking society, and after travelling he had the idea of creating a clothing brand that proudly showcases the stunning landscapes, beautiful nature and the true culture of Wales.

Over the past two years, we’ve been working together on their Shopify website, to support their growth online and reach a wider audience. Along with general consultation on digital marketing ideas (and the occasional modelling of Pen Wiwar merch around the world).

Their focus on sustainability runs through everything they do, from working with local artists on unique designs to producing sustainable clothing that reflects and respects the landscapes that inspire it.

Pen Wiwar also carefully chooses where it stocks its products; available in only a selection of independent Welsh stores. The brand is truly built around supporting and celebrating Wales, and Welsh talent, at every possible opportunity.

We love working with businesses that are built on connection, purpose and a genuine passion for what they do. Helping them tell their story, all whilst promoting everything Cymru has to offer, is why we do what we do at Digidol!

If you haven’t come across Pen Wiwar before, we highly recommend checking out their socials and supporting one of Wales’ fastest growing brands 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Always use a CTA 👇

A Call To Action (CTA) is just a simple way of telling your audience what to do next. You’ll usually see them as buttons like “Buy Now,” “Get In Touch,” or “Find Out More.”

But it doesn’t always have to be a button, sometimes it’s just a short line at the end of your post pointing people in the right direction, like clicking a link or checking out your website.

A lot of platforms make this super easy now too. Facebook, for example, lets you add CTA buttons straight onto your posts so you can match them to what you’re sharing.

The main thing? Be clear on what you want people to do.
Sharing a blog? Send them to read it.
Promoting something? Point them towards buying or getting a quote.

If your post has a clear message and a clear next step, people are way more likely to engage with it 🙌

Actionable tip:
Before you hit post, ask yourself: what do I want people to do after seeing this? Then make it easy for them with a link or CTA.

👉 Need help creating high-converting content? Drop a comment or send a message and we’ll help you work it out!
