I recently wrote a piece for Housing Executive Magazine on the Social Housing (Regulation) Act, and the various challenges surrounding implementing the new housing qualifications.

I also spoke to Katherine Sinclair, Legal Director at Anthony Collins, who gave her expert insights on the possible legal issues involved, and potential for discrimination.

With an existing skills gap deficit already impacting talent attraction and retention across the sector, how are housing leaders responding to the challenges, and what might the implementation of the new standards mean for service users and the wider industry long term?

It's important to ensure those already in housing management roles are not unfairly discriminated against when driving the regulatory changes, and that our end users gain the maximum benefit from collective professional services and channelled resources.

We've been hearing a lot of noise recently on the potential impact of ChatGPT on traditional recruitment processes.

But what about its potential use by Hirers? In the interests of research, I asked Chat GPT to provide, in its own words, what it considers to be the benefits and risks of using itself for recruiters.

Read my article in LinkedIn Leadership & Development Newsletter to find out what it said:

Shockingly, there is still a huge amount of stigma and misinformation around neurodiversity in the workforce.

A recent study found that 50% of employers would not hire a neurodiverse person, due to outdated bias and unfair discrimination.

In my latest article, I explore some common misconceptions and hihglight how it is more important than ever for the success of an organisation, and it's bottom line, to build strengths-based diversity into our teams.

My latest blog on the boomerang employee and why returning workers are goods for business :)

We’ve been playing catch with a number of trendy workplace phrases recently. We’ve had the artist formerly known as soft skills upgraded to power skills. Quiet quitting was freshly coined to describe doing a job without going ‘above and beyond’ what is required. The much-bandied great resign...

Today is day.

As part of Mind's initiative to create a national conversation around mental health, many of us will be taking a small piece of time out of our day to check in with a member of our team and have a discussion about mental health.

The latest study from The Workforce Institute at UKG offers some sobering statistics around the impact of managers on mental health, and how stress affects people's everyday lives. https://lnkd.in/e-Mcjzd7

If you still need convincing after reading the report, here are my five top reasons you should be prioritising mental health in the workplace.

Why is workplace culture so important?

Over the last few years, we started observing a shift in the priorities of employees, especially the younger workforce. People were starting to value and prioritise their personal time more, wanted to be in a more supportive, autonomous-led environment, which offered more opportunities to develop their strengths and passions, they wanted more diversity, and they wanted to feel more valued.

Since the pandemic, this has accelerated, and with the Great Migration taking place, people are voting with their feet.

Developing a culture of trust has become a vital factor in attracting, retaining and developing people in a hybrid work world, where often, the only certainly is uncertainty.

Read my short blog for WISH on developing a culture of trust.

Thrust into the new world of remote and hybrid working, it became clear that the old ways of doing things were no longer fit for purpose...

This week is World Wellbeing Week!

As part of my commitment to my own wellbeing, I will be balancing out my work time with intermittent recharges from the best energy source around - nature 😊

Sometimes it’s easy to feel overloaded and become overwhelmed, especially if juggling many different challenges, and can be hard to see the bigger picture.

Everyone is energised by different things - some need to feel a strong sense of connection with other people, others find physical activities give them energy and focus - whatever helps you personally, it’s important to make time for the things that help you to feel uniquely grounded, energised and give you a sense of wellbeing.

What will you be doing this week to support your own wellbeing?

Apart from being at Manchester of course - see you there if you’re going!
