Brand reveal for Spooky’s Building & Electrical Services 👷‍♂️⚡

This project was a special one for me, as the client also happens to be my dad. Funny enough, the very first logo I ever designed at 15 was for his business… and it featured a literal ghost wearing a hard hat 👻😂 Safe to say we’ve both come a long way since then.

For the redesign, I wanted to move away from the obvious route and create something that felt modern, professional and built to last.

The final logo icon combines a geometric “S” shape within the structure of a house, inspired by architectural blueprints and technical drawings. The clean line work reflects both the building and electrical side of the business, while the structured design helps communicate reliability, precision and future-focused workmanship.

The blueprint-inspired style also ties into the idea of planning, craftsmanship and creating solid foundations, values that sit at the core of the company.

Really proud to have redesigned this over 15 years later ❤️

And genuinely, if anyone around Kent is looking for building or electrical work, give him a shout, he’s pretty good ⚡

Working with Carers First and Amazing Minds on the young carers animation is still one of the projects I’m most proud of. But it didn’t start behind a screen.

Before any design work began, I spent time with young carers, listening to their experiences through a series of workshops. We talked, drew, and explored what day to day life feels like for them. Those conversations shaped everything that followed.

The idea of the small robot with the battery came from trying to reflect how quickly their energy can run down when they are balancing so much on their own. It’s a part of the process I really value. Taking the time to understand the people behind the brief before creating anything.

I’ve shared a bit more about this and what I learned working on A Story for Young Carers in a new blog, which you can find on my website.

As part of the Young Carers project, I also designed a set of social media graphics for schools to share across their own platforms.

To make things as simple as possible, we created a promotion pack that’s being sent out to schools across Kent. It includes ready-to-use posts, posters and resources so schools can quickly access the information and help spread awareness.

The aim is to make it easier for schools to start conversations about young carers, share the animation, and help reach children who may not yet be known or receiving support.

Alongside the animation for the Young Carers project, I also designed a set of posters and promotional materials that are now being sent out to schools across Kent.

Schools can print and display these around the building or include them in newsletters. Each poster includes a QR code linking to the animation, along with information on how young carers can get in touch with Carers First.

A little behind-the-scenes look at a project that’s been incredibly meaningful to work on.

I collaborated with .official and to create a charity animation raising awareness of the realities faced by young carers.

There are over 800,000 young people caring for someone in the UK, and many more who are currently unidentified and not yet receiving support. Our goal was to raise awareness and highlight how important it is to recognise and support them.

The project began with workshops where young carers shared their experiences through drawing, conversation and creative activities. Listening to their stories, the responsibilities they carry and the love they have for their families, shaped the direction of the whole project.

From these sessions, I created a short animation featuring a small robot with a battery icon, representing how caring responsibilities can sometimes drain young carers faster than other children.

The animation and campaign materials are now being shared with schools across Kent to help identify young carers who may still be hidden and ensure they can access the support they deserve.

We hope this collaboration helps give young carers a voice and reduces stigma in a way that is engaging and meaningful for children. I’m incredibly proud of this project and hope it makes all the difference it can for young carers across Medway.

For this project, the logo icon was created by merging a heart with an infinity symbol to represent PhiZ & Co’s commitment to continuous, patient-centred care and that the patient voice should be embedded throughout the entire research journey, not just at the end.

The heart reflects empathy and human connection, while the infinity form speaks to ongoing collaboration and long-term impact within healthcare and research.

Placing the icon within a circle helps to frame the mark and symbolise unity and the all-round support they provide through their services.

The logotype uses Montserrat for its legibility, ensuring it remains easy to read across digital and print applications, while its rounded geometry supports the approachable tone of the brand without compromising professionalism.
