You may not be my client today... but that doesn’t mean I’m not rooting for you. 💚

One of my favourite things about social media is that I get to connect with SO many businesses that I don’t actually work with.

You might follow my posts, steal the odd tip 👀, laugh at one of my questionable Reels or quietly watch from the sidelines for months. And I LOVE that.

Because not everyone who follows me needs to become a client.

Maybe you’re happily managing your own socials right now. Maybe the budget isn’t there yet. Maybe you’ve only just started your business. Or maybe you simply enjoy following along.

But businesses change. They grow. They get busier. And sometimes the thing you had plenty of time to do yourself suddenly becomes the thing you never quite get around to.

So I’ll keep sharing, cheering you on and hopefully helping along the way.

And look, you might be right.

You can absolutely manage your own social media. You can create the posts, write the captions, make the Reels, reply to comments, keep up with trends, remember to post consistently AND run your actual business at the same time.

You can do all of that.

The question is... do you actually want to? 👀

Because hiring a social media manager isn’t always about not knowing how to do it yourself. Sometimes it’s about getting those hours back, having someone keeping you consistent and knowing your business is still showing up online when you’re busy doing the thing you actually get paid to do.

So no, you don’t need me.

💎 15 years married. FIFTEEN.

Apparently that’s the crystal anniversary, which sounds very fancy for two people who spend most evenings discussing what we’re having for tea. 😂

15 years of marriage, two kids, countless holidays, plenty of questionable decisions and approximately 4,000 conversations where one of us definitely told the other something and the other definitely wasn’t listening.

We’ve survived sleepless nights, parenting, life admin and the daily battle over what to watch on TV.

And somehow, Mr C is still here. 👏😂

15 years married. Just like the finest of wines, we’re getting better with age. 😂🍷

MARKETING THROUGH THE ERAS 📻📺💻📱

Marketing has changed A LOT… and somehow, I’ve ended up growing with it. 😂

From newspapers and radio to billboards, TV ads, Google, social media and now AI, the way businesses get themselves seen has changed beyond recognition.

And this one feels particularly personal to me because my own career started back in 2008 at our local newspaper. 📰

Back then, print advertising was still a huge part of how local businesses reached their customers.

Then came the digital explosion.

Websites became essential. Google changed how we searched. Facebook became somewhere businesses needed to be. Instagram followed. Video took over. And now we’re creating content from the phones in our pockets. 📱

I’ve watched businesses go from asking “Do I really need a website?” to “Do I really need social media?” and now “Do I really need to make Reels?” 😂

The tools keep changing.
The platforms keep changing.
The algorithms DEFINITELY keep changing. 🙄

But swipe through the eras and one thing becomes pretty obvious...

The goal has never really changed.

Get noticed. Be remembered. Build trust. Give people a reason to choose you.

Different eras. Different tools. Same goal.

And yes, I absolutely created nearly 100 years' worth of hairstyles to make that point. 👀😂

20 minutes later I’m considering building an ark.

Anyway, social media is scheduled, clients are happy and I’m prepared for literally ANYTHING the British weather wants to throw at me.

I have officially had my first conversation about CHRISTMAS. 🎄😂

Yes, I know it’s September.
Yes, I also think it’s far too early to be discussing mince pies.
But in social media land... Christmas is already creeping in. 👀

Because the businesses that absolutely smash their festive content aren’t usually the ones throwing something together on 18th December.

They’ve planned it.

Christmas offers, gift guides, festive opening hours, Black Friday, events, Christmas parties... it all starts MUCH earlier than you think.

So while I’m personally refusing to acknowledge Christmas for a little while longer...

Whilst everyone else is posting their wins, I thought I’d share some of my flops. ✌️😂

A post I thought was brilliant that completely bombed.
Only 1,000 Instagram followers as a Social Media Manager.
My biggest ever month of client loss.
Two mistakes for one client, in ONE day. 🤦‍♀️

And a few potential clients who disappeared into thin air. 👻

But none of those things mean my business is failing.

They mean I’m running a business.

Some months are brilliant. Some are bloody hard. Sometimes you get it wrong. And sometimes things happen that are completely out of your control.

I’m not chasing fame or trying to make my business look perfect online.

I’m just building something real. 💚

Of course you can. You can probably clean your own office, do your own accounts and build your own website too. 😂

The question is… do you actually WANT to?

Running a business already means wearing about 472 different hats, and social media has a habit of becoming that job you’ll “do later”.

That’s where I come in.

A Social Media Manager isn’t just someone who writes a few Facebook posts. I get to know your business, find the things worth talking about, create the content, keep you visible, look at what’s actually working and make sure your socials don’t disappear to the bottom of your to-do list.

Meanwhile, you can get on with the bit you’re actually good at… running your business.
