My working hours are 7am to 6pm, Mondays to Saturdays, so I will agree the times I block out for you during these hours. When I have holidays booked, I will give you plenty of notice to ensure you have no service interruption and I can help with sourcing a stand-in if required. “What if someone scans it?”

That was the question when my client added a QR code to the back of her book.

The code takes readers straight to the digital versions of everything inside. No emails. No proof-of-purchase form. No waiting for someone to check an order number and send a link.

We could have built a system to verify every buyer. But the digital assets sell for £4.95, and the time and ongoing admin required to protect that £4.95 would cost more than the leak would.

So we chose trust. Anyone who scans still joins the mailing list, which is worth more to my client than a tiny digital gatekeeper.

Not every gap needs plugging. Work out what the leak is costing before you pay to stop it.

That’s the daft part—solo productivity usually isn’t a willpower problem. It’s a decisions problem.

Every time I have to choose what to do next (reply now or later, which spreadsheet, which link, which version of the onboarding email), my brain spends energy on admin instead of the work that actually moves my business forward.
